I scribbled down notes during class of ingredients I needed to get at hogsmead as soon as I had the chance.
This potions class expected a lot more than last years. Some of the listed potions I already forgotten their uses. Or mixed them up entirely.
Most ingredients I did have. Thanks to the makeshift garden I created in the room of requirement.
The first week of classes had gone by smoothly. I was still debating if I wanted to investigate Fig's wish.
But I was enjoying being with my friends. Perhaps there was no need to rid me of the ancient magic. Things felt normal.
" How is Sebastian? He's seemed down" Poppy asked as she sat in a grass bead with Highwing's head against her shoulder as she gently massaged the side of his neck.
" He's been dealing with his family issues. He seems okay on the surface but I can tell he's struggling." I lied. Well not totally. No one knew his uncle was killed by him. Just that he died. And the grief was a bit more complicated than family loss.
" Poor Sebastian." She murmured.
" I've been trying to think of ways to make him feel better all week. I know I can't take away his pain. But I want to at least ease it so he's happy. Even for just a moment. " I thought out loud.
" If I didn't know any better I'd say you had a crush on sallow" she giggled.
I laughed. " Please we only nearly died together a few times." I joked. " Seriously though. I don't know" I shrugged. " I don't find myself cut out for that sorta stuff."
" Why not? It's a beautiful thing." She smiled.
" I'm too closed off. I couldn't offer my full emotions. Not right now at least. Besides. Plus I've been under the impression, Sebastian has a history with Imelda Reyes." I theorized.
She giggled. " I don't mean to laugh. But I think it's funny that you could tell" she sighed. " I guess being so busy with the poachers, and Ranrok's lot last year, I never even caught you up on Hogwarts drama."
" I couldn't even begin to fathom what Hogwarts drama there is" I laughed. " Would rather have talked about that last year instead of evil goblins and poachers."
" Now is a better time than ever to catch you up." She giggled.
Poppy explained some of the drama between students. Most of my interest was in Sebastian's past before I got here.
Him and Imelda were only rumored to be dating. They started spending a lot of time together their 4th year. And that's when the rumors started. However a lot of students had recently been talking about how once I got here, they notably saw a shift. Sebastian was no longer tagging along with Imelda everywhere and vice versa. Instead I was usually following him around, or he was following me around all last year.
Leading the rumors to shift off Imelda and on to me. And everyone knew Imelda was the competitive type. Now everyone lay in wait to see what she would do. Would their rumors of Sebastian and Imelda dating be confirmed? Or would they come up with new ones about me and him?
Who knows.
I couldn't really focus on rumors, as fun as they were to hear about. I just wanted Sebastian to be okay.
