We stood before the woman in black as she interrogated us.

The tables really had turned. I felt uneasy. Ominis seemed nervous. But I couldn't even begin to read Sebastian. And how he was feeling.

He kept the same stare at Thalia as she gathered her thoughts.

Her expression softened from the shock as she sat down, her eyes beginning to water. " What happened..?" She asked softly in a shaky breath.

At the sight of her grief, Sebastian turned around.

I quickly looked at him. His expression showed immense guilt, now. His eyes were more haunting than before.

" He... he died peacefully... in his sleep last year..." Ominis spoke up, continuing the lie we had settled on with Anne.

She looked up as she gently wiped a tear that managed to escape.

She adjusted herself as best as she could. It was obvious she was trying not to cry.

" I don't mean to pry. But I can't help but ask. You knew Soloman?" I asked gently.

She nodded. " Yeah.." she choked out. " We were friends at Hogwarts. Lost touch when he became an Auror. But I'd receive the occasional letter." She explained.

" Even attended his brother and sister in law's funeral-" she cut herself off and eyed Sebastian.

" You're Thomas and Elizabeth's son..." she murmured. " Goodness... you were so young... you've grown into quite a handsome young man." She said standing up.

" Where's your sister?" She asked approaching us.

I could see Sebastian work to compose himself. He shut his eyes tight and gently breathed out. He turned around to answer her. " She's away. She's ill..." he explained. " I'm working to find a cure for her."

My eyes widened. As did ominis'.

Sebastian hadn't mentioned anything about finding a cure for Anne again. I thought we were done. I couldn't help but feel slightly betrayed. Even though I didn't know what he meant just yet it made me nervous. It's not like I expected him to stop. But the fact that he hasn't said anything about it, hurt.

And He wouldn't look at me. He was guilty.

But now was not the time for me to interrogate him.

" Perhaps I can help then. But unfortunately. We have some catching up to do. I'm afraid this situation is slightly more dire." She said gesturing between me and her as she approached me.

Sebastian stepped out of the way.

She stepped forward with a small smile and gently reached out taking a strand of hair in her hand. " I'm happy to see you got our side of the family's looks." She chuckled. " I never found your father attractive." She rolled her eyes.

I stifled an awkward laugh. " My mother would actually say the same sometimes.... Usually when she was upset with father."

She smiled. But more so sadly this time. " Dear, I'm so sorry they didn't have a different mindset like I'd hoped they would if they had a child. You really know nothing of our family's wizards?"

I shook my head. " I don't. They gave me the choice leave or be dead to them. And they meant it."

" your grandparents did the same to me." She shrugged. " I only learned everything once attending Hogwarts. Apparently our lineage used to be pureblood. Then a witch decided to renounce her magic to marry a muggle who hated wizards. And so started the trend of any witch or wizard born to the family, renouncing their magic. Or being cast out." She explained.
