— Valeria's POV —
I sat In the common room studying for Wizards History. The school day has been a busy one. With majority of my classes dragging it seemed.

Herbology was definitely the highlight though.

I unfortunately did not get to see Ominis last night.

I stayed with Sebastian all night. Falling asleep on the floor with him in the undercroft for a couple hours. Before we both woke up and returned to our dorms.

He kissed me goodnight, and we settled our affections for the moment. Though he did say he was not gonna make a promise to not kiss me again.

I didn't object. But, then again I was drained. Half asleep from our nap in the undercroft together and still reeling through the emotional train wreck of yesterday.

I was nervous. But we also promised to keep the charade of us being plain old friends. Primarily to avoid further rumors from Jasper or Imelda. Or others. The last thing we both wanted was any gossip to deal with like yesterday.

And so far, Sebastian wasn't facing trouble from Jasper.

If anything things seemed too quiet after yesterday. I definitely had my suspicions given Jasper really isn't the gentlemanly kind student I thought he was.

I was disappointed in myself that  I didn't see it sooner.

And for always telling Sebastian he wasn't something to worry about.

Before I said goodnight to him, he said he would tell Ominis to meet him in the common room after class today. And asked that I be there just in case.

Sure enough I saw him stroll in. He scanned the room for me before spotting me sitting on the floor beside the windows that looked into the lake.

He walked over and sat beside me.

" Will he meet you?" I asked.

He shrugged. " Didn't say anything. I'm a tad nervous if I'm honest."I glanced down at his hand by his side between us.

I slipped my hand gently beneath his, intertwining our fingers. He looked over at me as he held my hand back, gently squeezing it.

" You know we're going to have to talk about what you've been researching too."

His expression dropped and his eyes shifted as he nodded.

Ominis' footsteps suddenly echoed through the common room.

We exchanged glances, before standing up and approaching him.

" Ominis.. You came." Sebastian said hesitantly.

" Sebastian...look..." he started clearly still feeling guilt, worried Sebastian was still mad at him.

" Ominis. I have to apologize." Sebastian quickly said.

Ominis looked confused.

Sebastian didn't seem to know what to do next, so I smacked his arm.

He raised an eyebrow and sighed with a nod. "...look. I should not have reacted to the news of you still talking to Anne, the way I did. I'm sorry. I miss my sister. I feel like I've lost her forever." He spoke slowly. Analyzing his own words deeply. " But... I don't want to feel like I've lost my best friend too."
