I'd never felt happier than I did tonight.
Leaning against the balcony with Sebastian. He held my hand gently massaging circles as we talked.
Every so often he'd play with my hair just staring at me as I spoke. He told me about his parents and what it was like growing up with Hogwarts professors as parents. How him and Anne take a lot after their them. Look wise and personality. I loved that he was being more open. It felt like conversation we should have been having last year. And I think it was helping him get his mind off of what he did and how Anne wasn't speaking to him still.
" There's something I've been wanting to ask" he asked suddenly as he stared out at Hogwarts valley holding my hand.
" What?" I asked curiously.
" We can talk about it later if you'd like. But I just wanted to know more about how you got here to Hogwarts." He asked curiously.
I shifted my gaze away from him. He knew the bare basis of it.
" I mean there's not much to know I guess." I shrugged. " I got notice before the year started. My parents were confused. They thought perhaps it was a prank. And so did I." I laughed.
" Professor fig showed up. They got scared and they made me choose" I shrugged.
" Yeah but what happened...? I just... " he took a breath. " Ominis explained you guys talked about it last year." He chuckled. " But Ominis says he gave you his word to not speak much about it. And he's kept that promise, not even telling me."
I smiled. " yeah me and Ominis kinda bonded over it I guess..." I mumbled.
" and I have a feeling whatever happened is another reason you became so close to fig." He explained.
I nodded. " Well... uhm..." I searched for the right words. " When professor fig showed up. My father got kinda angry. He figured it was a grand joke and he'd had enough of it. Professor fig approached my parents with grace and kindness though. But he very obviously didn't like that I was being given a choice. That hurt him." I explained. " I guess Fig could never have children of his own with his wife. So when my parents presented me with the choice of leaving to Hogwarts, and never speaking to them again, or staying in London and living a normal life, he lost it a bit. He lectured them about how as my parents it was their responsibility to ensure my safety as well as support the decisions I make. And if I make a mistake, help me." I explained.
" My father tried to attack him and Fig casted a spell on him to protect himself. And then it came down to me and what I would choose." I shrugged. " A part of me thought my parents were kidding. Or maybe they were scared and would come around in the moment but they didn't. When I went back over summer vacation they didn't even live in the house I'd grown up my whole life, anymore. I have no idea where they're at. They truly meant their word that I'd be dead to them. I wrote letters all last year and got no response. But found a couple scattered in the vacant yard. They were probably gone by the time i settled into Hogwarts honestly" I scoffed.
" I'm sorry." He whispered gently squeezing my hand.
I shook my head. " Don't be. I'll never regret choosing magic. Even after all that's happened."
" But they really didn't know or have an inkling? I mean most muggle borns have someone in their family who is a witch or wizard and that's how they pinpoint where it came from" he chuckled.
" Apparently my family has a history of casting out witches and wizards." I chuckled. " Or some of them conceal what they are all together and never learn magic or tell anyone. There could be more members of my family that are wizards and just don't know it." I shrugged. " And any that have been casted out, I don't know."
