My eyes started to open five days later, and I had no idea what had happened to me. I was staring at the white ceilings and thought I was in heaven. In enthusiasm, I heard a female mumble her voice. The sights were exceedingly hazy. I was attempting to close my eyes. Someone was staring at me intently.
"Babe, you're awake!" That sounded exactly like Amanda. I felt as though I was dreaming. When I opened my eyes, Amanda was standing there. She gave me an affectionate smile. She couldn't possibly be alive. She had both of my hands on me. "I had missed you so much."
The sounds reminded me of her warmth and generosity. "I missed you too," I said, my voice raspy. I cast a longing gaze at her. The price of beauty made me miss having her in my arms. My head was causing me so much pain. I raised my head and asked Amanda, "What's going on?"
"You'll be okay but let me tell you something. Melanie is not who you believe she is," she continued. I was puzzled.
"Huh?" I replied to her. She assisted me in waking up from a coma. "How long have I been here?"
"You've been here for five days, baby," she pointed out. She caressed my hair and brushed my hair. My head was bandaged in a white thick wool head injury wrap. For five days, I was in a coma. How could I have slept and been in a coma for five days?
"Amy, what do you mean Melanie isn't the person I think she is?" I inquired of her. She went away, and there was Melanie sitting there, staring at me. I felt as though I was hallucinating. As she rose up, she appeared to be cruel and malicious. She walked with her heels as high as her pregnant belly. She appeared to be nine months pregnant... It hadn't even been nine months. She clasped her hands behind her back and pulled out a knife.
"Melanie, no!" She nodded, and this was not intended to be a nightmare. This felt so real! I finally awoke as she was going to knife me. It had all been a nightmarish dream. In a hospital bed, I was panting heavily. Melanie awoke afraid because I was holding her hands beside her. She grinned as she glanced at me.
"You're awake now, the operation was successful," she remarked. She seems frightened and worried.
"Melanie?" I said. "What has just happened?" She kissed me on the lips and told me that I had been in a coma for five days due to a terrifying storm disaster. Mom was visibly concerned across the room. She looked at me, glad to find that I was awake.
"I remembered that we had this huge fight," I told Melanie.
"There's nothing to be concerned about. "I've already confronted Landon about it," she explained. I had no idea what was going on with her. She acted really differently? Was she bipolar or what? This time, she was really kind and assured me that everything was okay.
"Landon, my son just woke up from a coma," Mom said.
"Just in time," he murmured as he strolled into the room.
"Hey Mila," he called out to her. This time, Mila? He was beaming at her, but she rolled her eyes and burst out laughing. "You know this isn't funny, but thanks for having my back." What did he mean when he said she had his back? He had no idea she was pregnant. She was around three months pregnant at this point. She was quite good at concealing it. I'm sure she hasn't told him yet.
He turned back and struck up a discussion with Melanie. They pretended to know each other for that long. He continued to flirt with her. His iridescent blue eyes. They appeared to be siblings. I glanced at her again and didn't notice she had blonde hair.
"Hey, did you get your hair dyed blonde?" She was radiant, but her hair was a far cry from brunette.
"Haha no, it's just a wig, I just wanted to be blonde for a week so I could be a bad bitch," she explained.
"Yeah, bad bitch energy to your boyfriend," I explained.
"Oh, you're talking about me?" Landon laughed as he scribbled some notes. "Well, not quite yet."
"No, I am her boyfriend," he choked out as I smiled at him soon after I said it. The pupils around her dilated and she became even more afraid. That's exactly how she avoided telling him. She made an effort to avoid making eye contact with me. I'm meddling with this matchmaker between him and my girlfriend since he needed to know about this entire dating thing.
Suddenly, my own girlfriend appeared to be silent, with no words. She gulped, then sighed and turned to face him. She was becoming very humiliated. She was very red and flushed.
"Mila and Ms. Nathanson, please leave us alone for a moment so that I can ask Daxton Nathanson some further questions," Landon replied, changing the subject. He was behaving quite professionally yet expressing an overwhelming emotion. They both bowed their heads and exited the room. I suppose I irritated Melanie yet again. I had the right to do it since she constantly made me upset.
He approached me when I was seated on this hospital bed, holding the notepad. He took a seat near me and began questioning me. During the thunderstorm, I didn't notice the person who hit-and-run. I was unsure about the gender.
"Since the incident happened five days ago, do you remember any details or the person who can help with this case?" With a solemn tone, he stated.
"I don't see the person who caused the hit-and-run. The window tiles were really dark and black. I couldn't tell who it was," I explained. He furrowed his brow. He questioned if that was all the information I had because I didn't have anything further to add. I had no idea who had caused the disaster. I underwent a surgery that I didn't fully understand.
"So, your operation was about the head and the stomach," he said. "You broke some ribs and had a minor concussion." Is that all he talked about?
"Please allow me to take a moment with you because most of the accident information is unknown to me due to the inclement weather. I was upset with my own girlfriend when she kissed you on the cheek," I said. He looked me in the eyes and then put down his notepad. I could sense a tinge of fury inside him. He was perhaps too soft for me, but I am a tough guy.
"I'm not conscious that she's in a relationship with you. She's been flirting with me since the day I met her," he explained.
"Oh? Didn't you know she's carrying my unborn child?" I told him to choke again. He inhaled deeply.
"Pregnant?" He said it again. I nodded, a slight wry grin on my face. "She never tells me that she's pregnant."
"She's hiding it very well," I said as I crossed my arms. He seems dissatisfied with the entire situation. "You should call it quits with her and stop flirting with her because I've been her boyfriend for four months."
"Oh, okay..." He went on to say. This was what I needed to confront him and tell him to quit enjoying with Melanie. Rosalia and Jake's voices were heard. They had appeared to pay me a visit. Detective Landon decided to get up and leave the room to get back to work, but first he needed to talk with Melanie. This time, it made me feel terrific.
Rosalia's face was filled with disappointment as I stared at her. Melanie seems to have told her about it before entering the hospital room. I lowered my head. "Jake texted me that you ruined my matchmaker plan because I had no idea you and Melanie had been dating for four months," she lamented. Jake stood alongside her, holding her hands, but he told her she needed to understand.
