"It's a girl!" said the doctor. Melanie burst into tears of happiness. "Congratulations, young parents! Your daughter will be incredibly fortunate to have you." My thoughts were filled with joy, and tears welled up in my eyes. I was expecting a daughter. Daddy's girl was on her way, and I couldn't wait. I couldn't wait to hold her in my arms when Melanie gave birth. Time would disappear in the blink of an eye.

Melanie's pregnant belly was covered in sticky gel when I touched it. The doctor advised that she clean it up before leaving the room so that we could spend some joyful time together. Melanie couldn't stop smiling after discovering the gender. We locked our gazes together. We both agreed that we should wait until she was around 20 weeks pregnant to reveal the gender of our child.

Suddenly, I agreed with a nod of my head. My phone rang, and I received a text message from an unknown number. When I looked at it, I was doubtful. Melanie made a puzzled expression when she observed my emotions. "Baby, what's wrong?" she inquired.

This was Josie's phone number out of nowhere after I received the message, but Jake gave her the phone number ahead of time. While reading that, I couldn't help but smile. "Who was it who texted you?" Melanie inquired once again.

"Babe, it's nothing, some amazing deals about football scholarships," I said, but she went for it. Her smile brightened as she locked her gaze on mine. She gladly kissed me on the face while holding my hand.

"I am madly in love with you, and you will be the best daddy to our daughter," she continued.

"Of course, Princesa," I said. That phrase made her cheeks flush. I instantly kissed her on the lips, and things became a little heated. We were both kissing like we were having a makeout session. "Uh, babe, not in this ultrasound doctor appointment, and plus you're having my baby." She gasped and laughed as she looked at me.

"Whoops," she confessed. "I'm not going to lie, you're a fantastic kisser."

"Yeah, and I guess it's time for us to leave here, so we have school tomorrow and homework," I told her. Her smile faded and she rolled her eyes.

"Oh no, I have to study for one of those AP exams tomorrow. That class is as dull as shit," she said. She unrolled her shirt and slipped it on as usual. I rose up as I prepared the keys in my hands. As we strolled together, we were both ready to depart. I received another text message from Josie, in which she asked for some friend date company that week in order to make her ex-boyfriend, who had cheated on her, jealous. Josie was like the price of a beauty; she didn't deserve to be cheated on.

Something in my subconscious begged me to tell my girlfriend from every inch of my body, but I didn't since Josie had asked me to keep this a secret because she wanted to get to know me as her cousin's boyfriend. That was all about me since Josefina was too beautiful the first time I saw her. Her vibe was distinct from Melanie's. Josie was feisty at the beginning, and I appreciated the determination she possessed.

Mel and I headed home, but she was continually enthusiastic about our upcoming baby girl announcement. I was on my phone, still not responding to Josie. Because I saw how wonderful she was, I continued rereading the notes. I decided to text her back.

"I am down in the afternoons on Thursday and Friday before you leave," I texted her. She abruptly responded to my reply with a smiling emoji. She remarked that she was excited to get to know me as a person. In reality, my logic was telling me that it was simply an acquaintance date, nothing more than that to harm Melanie. All I wanted to do was ask Josie some more questions because she had undoubtedly known her for a long time. That Kylie diary really disrupted me.

At the time, I recall having a hallucination in which Amy was telling me something about Melanie not being the person she was. Why would my dead lover tell me something in my thoughts while I thought she was still alive? This all looked odd at first, but then Vivian texted me to invite me to dinner because my mom would be working double hours to fill in someone's shift. Mom deserved a significant break from that work. Her sleep habits were irregular.
