Amanda and I were on a small picnic date before the sun went down on a Friday during homecoming weekend. She and I were conversing in the cold weather, which was ideal. She met my gaze as I met hers. She leaned in for a kiss on the lips. She cupped my chin, and I cupped hers as well. We were kissing, but it sounded like we were kissing in public. I had to stop the kisses since we were having it in public, and I didn't want anyone looking at us.

"You were amazing," she quipped.

"I know, but we can't do this in public," I said as I stroked her cheeks. Her cheeks turned pink, as she couldn't take her eyes off me. She was clearly in love. As her hair fell into her eyes, I tucked it. We laughed at each other till someone called us.

"Hello, Amanda and Dax," a young lady said. Amy and I had to look, which ruined the moment. Amy and I were enjoying a terrific picnic date, but looked at Melanie, dressed in all black. Mel appeared to be melancholy recently, when I started dating my girlfriend.

"Mel?" I said. "What exactly are you doing here?" I stood up, embarrassed, since she presumably witnessed me and Amanda making out. I had to inform her it was none of her concern in the first place. Mel didn't have any makeup on when I glanced into her eyes. Was she really so drunk?

"I watched you two kissing like pornstars," Melanie said, laughing uncontrollably. Amanda then stood up, puzzled what the hell was going on. Amanda glanced into her eyes and claimed that she seemed to be under the influence of alcohol and cannabis. It wasn't a smart idea to mix it. Melanie assumed to be insane as a result of this.

"I'm going to take her home since Jake is out with his girlfriend," I said to Amanda. Amanda looked me in the eyes as her grin vanished.

"Are you telling me I have to go home?" Amanda stated.

"No, but like you mentioned, I will come to your place later," I replied. Melanie sank into my arms, her hands clenched. She was clearly inebriated, but why was that? I simply needed to get Melanie home so her mother, Vivian, wouldn't be concerned about her whereabouts.

"All right, Daxton... Because you two are neighbors, just call me when you securely drop her off at home," Amanda added. Melanie assumed she was sleeping when I looked at her. I nodded to Amanda and urged her to kiss me on the lips. She bowed her head and kissed me on the lips. Amanda helped me unload everything because Melanie was on my shoulders.

Melanie was only a few minutes away from home, so I carried her for approximately five minutes. When I got to Jake's house, I rang the doorbell. No one answered until Jonah opened the door. "Hello, Jonah," I said.

"Hello, not again," he said. I raised an eyebrow at him, but was too preoccupied to ask him any questions.

"What's the dilemma?" I inquired about him. His eyes had enlarged as he tried to tell me something.

"Just take her to her room," he instructed. "I'll tell you what unfolded in the last two weeks after you denied her." What did he mean when he said I denied Melanie? Jonah allowed me in while Vivian was not at home. Jonah pointed me toward her room. Her room was on the third floor, but no one ever entered it, particularly her mother. I climbed the stairs to the third floor.

Suddenly, I noticed Melanie's room sign. Lanie was another nickname for her. Perhaps that was her childhood nickname, or they had been calling her that when she was at home. Mel was dozing when I opened the door. I tried not to wake her awake since she smelled strongly of booze and weed in her clothes. I looked around the room, and it was all light blue and purple surrounding them, but there was only one bed on one side and absolutely nothing on the other. Why would she live in such a large ass room?
