I ended up being discharged from the hospital two days later. Melanie hadn't paid me a visit during the visiting hours because she was probably upset with me. I made the choice to give her some space for the next two weeks. My phones were both busted, so Mom promised to purchase me a new one with her next paycheck.

Valentine had arrived, but I called Vivian to see if I could set up a date for Melanie, but she refused to leave the house or even speak with me. She was so mad at me, so she needed some space. Vivian suggested I give her a dozen roses with chocolates. It was Melanie's favorite. Jake and I were on speaking terms again since we were both cool again.

Jake was fine with me having a conversation with Landon about flirting with his sister after four months of me dating her. We hadn't formally broken up yet, so she was still my girlfriend. Jake stated he was getting strange sentiments from Landon but did not want to offend his girlfriend, Rosalia. Landon and she seemed to have stopped conversing for a long time. I was relieved to hear that, but Jake also added that Melanie hadn't spoken with her.

I had the impression that we were in a long-distance relationship, although we were actually neighbors. This made little sense. So, two weeks later, I headed over to her house and knock on the door. Melanie quickly opened the door, her pregnant bump noticeable. She was dressed in gray sweatpants and a crop top. She seems to have been vomiting recently.

"Hey Mel, I know you've been avoiding me since my conversation with Landon," I remarked, as she was ready to close the door. I stopped her from closing the door in front of my face. She paused and continued to stare at me. Her eyes fixed on mine with a lifeless look. She wasn't delighted with me.

"Yeah, because Landon ghosted me after your mouth ran to him. He said that he knew I had hidden my pregnancy. I wasn't ready to tell him until I was ready," she said. "It's all your fault, and you're just jealous because I kissed his cheek on TV."

"May we talk about this if you let me into your house?" I shrugged and replied to her. She rolled her eyes at me and gestured for me to enter. I walked into the home and turned to face her. Her skin was a little pale. "Are you feeling okay?"

"It's just morning sickness," she said further. "So, what exactly do you want to talk about?" She crossed her arms and demanded that I hear what I said so she could hear my side of the story. She'd had enough of us squabbling. Her untidy hairstyle made me smile for a moment, and then I became distracted. I had to concentrate on her. There will be no distractions this time.

"I just wanted to know if you have feelings for Landon, and I completely understand because cheating is your choice, not mine. I am not comfortable with an open relationship since I am in love with you. You said you loved me." I confessed. Her brow furrowed and her lips parted slightly as she looked at me.

"I wasn't cheating on you. He lost his dearest buddy to cancer. He'd had a long week and had been awake these days. He asked if I could be his emotional support in public speaking about the case," she contended. "You have no right to ask me if I wanted an open relationship because I fucking love you! Of course, it's not for having an open relationship!"
