Meredith slowly opened her eyes, her vision blurred as she struggled to regain her senses. The beeping of machines and the sterile smell of the hospital filled the room. She shifted her gaze to the side and noticed a woman sleeping soundly on a chair beside her bed. Although her memory was hazy, she instinctively knew that this person was important to her.
"Hey," Meredith whispered, her voice weak. The woman stirred and opened her eyes, her gaze filled with concern.
"Oh, you're awake," the woman said softly, her voice filled with relief. "How are you feeling, love?"
Meredith furrowed her brow, studying the woman's face. "You remind me of someone," she replied, her voice tinged with confusion.
The woman sat up, her eyes widening with surprise. "I'm Y/N," she said gently, taking Meredith's hand in hers. "I'm... I'm your fiancé."
Meredith's eyes widened, the realization hitting her like a ton of bricks. She couldn't remember their shared history, the love they had built together. It was as if her memories had been stolen from her.
Meanwhile, in the waiting area, Amelia Shepherd paced anxiously, her worry etched on her face. She desperately wanted to see her sister-in-law, Meredith, and offer her support. Just as she was about to approach the room, she noticed Y/N sitting alone, tears streaming down her face.
"Y/N, are you okay?" Amelia asked, concern lacing her voice.
Y/N sniffled and wiped away her tears. "I don't know, Amelia. She woke up, but she doesn't remember me. She doesn't remember anything."
Amelia placed a comforting hand on Y/N's shoulder. "Give her time. It's going to be a long road to recovery, but you're strong, and so is Meredith. You'll find your way back to each other."
In another corner of the hospital, Addison Montgomery stood at the window, her eyes fixed on the room where Meredith was being treated. She had always cared deeply for Meredith, and her heart ached at the thought of her suffering.
Lexie Grey approached Addison, concern etched on her face. "How is she, Addison? Is she going to be okay?"
Addison turned to Lexie, her voice filled with emotion. "We don't know yet, Lexie. But I hope with all my heart that she finds her way back to Y/N. They deserve happiness together."
Days turned into weeks as Meredith slowly recovered, but her memories remained elusive. She was discharged from the hospital and returned home with Y/N, who had become her constant companion and caregiver. Y/N did everything in her power to help Meredith regain her memory, sharing stories, looking at old photos, and creating new memories.
One evening, as Y/N prepared dinner in the kitchen, Meredith entered the room with a determined look on her face. She held an old photograph in her hand, her eyes filled with recognition.
"I remember," Meredith whispered, her voice filled with awe. Y/N turned around, her eyes widening with anticipation.
Meredith crossed the room in a few strides and gently cupped Y/N's face, her heart pounding with emotion. Without hesitation, she leaned in and pressed a tender, passionate kiss on Y/N's lips. It was a moment of overwhelming joy and relief.
"I remember us," Meredith murmured against Y/N's lips, tears streaming down her face. "I remember our love."
Y/N smiled through her own tears, wrapping her arms around Meredith. "I never lost faith, Mer," she whispered. "I knew you'd find your way back to me."
