On the drive to the police station, Lily wasn't as upset anymore. She was still furious that he landed himself in more trouble but honestly she thought about how he must be feeling. She exploded on him and he felt blindsided and she hoped he would understand that she was just concerned. Lily prayed that he was okay; Junior parked the car let out a sigh, Lily turned to look at him, "Did he say what he got arrested for?" She asked. "Yeah, he was speeding and he was already drunk. He asked me to pick him up and not to tell you. I knew that if he didn't want you here that I had to bring you. I respect Dave but I don't trust him with some things." Lily nodded, she got out of the car and followed Junior in. An officer brought Dave out, his eyes were blood-shot, he looked like he was about to collapse on the floor. His long hair covered his face, he was staring down at the ground as the officer uncuffed him. Junior went up to the officer and Dave stood there, Lily walked up to him. He slowly lifted his face and let out a long sigh, "Don't lecture me. I know I fucked up. I don't need to hear it. You nag at me enough."All her prior thoughts of forgiving him and wanting to hear him out were now pushed to the back of her mind as rage swelled in her head. Lily raised her hand and slapped him across the cheek. His head turned with the impact his drunken body stumbled before he caught himself. Junior turned to look at them, Lily's face was bright red, Dave was now holding his cheek. "Are you fucking kidding me?" Dave spat, Lily's eyes were welling with tears as she turned away and hugged her body walking out of the building. As soon as she got outside she turned her head up to look at the sky taking in deep breaths so she wouldn't start crying. How could he say something like that to me again? She thought, I just want to help him.
A few minutes later Dave and Junior walked out of the building and Junior laid Dave in the backseat. Junior shut the door and turned back to Lily, "I fucking hate this. I hate the way he acts." Junior placed his hand on her shoulder before tears started to stream down her face, Junior wrapped her arms around her shoulders as Lily wrapped her arms around his waist, "Why does he do this to himself? I just want him to be better." She sobbed, Junior cooed her and placed his hand on the back of her head until she calmed down. Dave was sleeping in the backseat when they got into the car. "Can you take him home and make sure he's okay? I can't stay there tonight. I'm going to my friend's house." Junior nodded, "Do you want me to drop you off?" Lily nodded and wiped her tear dried cheeks.
Lily got out of the car and walked up Victoria's driveway, she knocked softly on the door as Junior and Dave drove off. The door opened a few minutes later, Todd stood there looking tiredly at Lily, "Oh god. Victoria! Lily's here!" He shouted up the stairs, there was some movement and shuffling feet coming down the stairs. "Lily! What's wrong?" Victoria was in her pajamas, throwing her arms around Lily, she was now crying as Victoria held her. "It's okay. We'll fix it. Whatever it is, we'll fix it." Victoria led Lily into the house sitting her on the couch, the cushion dipped as Victoria sat down next to her. Holding Lily's hands she looked at her with soft eyes. "Dave got mad at me and ended up getting arrested then I had to go get him with his friend, Junior. And I thought he was doing better, I really thought he was taking care of himself better. But I don't know how to help him. I just wish my mom was still here so she could tell me what to do." Lily sobbed harder and buried her head in Victoria's shoulder as she rubbed her back. Todd was standing in the doorway of the living room. "It'll be okay. He just needs time. Addiction is a horrible thing to go through. You know that first hand, but he has you to help him and that makes the battle a bit easier. He has to do it himself though."
The tv was playing a stupid late night talk show and Victoria was finding it hard to stay awake. Todd came down from the bedroom and walked into the living room. "Victoria, I need to sleep and so do you. Lily has to go." Lily looked up at him with angry tired eyes, Where the hell does he get off? Victoria shook her head, "Can't she stay here for tonight? It's already pretty late. It'd be rude to ask her to leave now." Todd sighed and looked away before drawing his eyes back to Victoria's, "Listen, I understand she needs somewhere to stay but we can't keep letting her crash here like it's her own personal shelter. We have lives, V." He argued and Lily stood up, "Fine. You want me to go? I'll leave." Lily was too tired to argue with him. Victoria stood up, grabbing Lily's arm, "Lil, it's really no problem if you want to stay here you can!" Lily shook her head and Todd had this obnoxious smirk on his face. "Victoria, I'm not going to argue. You both work tomorrow and it's fine, I'll find somewhere to stay." Victoria sighed and opened her mouth to say something but Lily was already opening the front door.
