Lily woke up with a pounding headache. The memories and words immediately flooded her mind from the night prior. She peeled her body from the stiff bed that was all too familiar to her. Her body was surrounded by a sad glow, her shoulders were slouched, her eyes puffy and red, her skin pale, and her bones ached. She was a mess to put it simply. Technically, neither Dave nor Lily admitted that they wanted to break up with each other, but moving out certainly wasn't a step in the right direction. Lily could hardly hold her body up from the exhaustion. She hadn't been sleeping well without Dave for the past couple of weeks and the effects were quickly catching up with her. There was soft chatter from downstairs, Lily changed into decent lounge wear before she went down to the kitchen. The bags under eyes and smeared mascara screamed she slept well. "Good morning, sweetheart!" Victoria said she was very aware of how Lily would react to everything. After making lots of hangover and heartbreak cures Victoria knew exactly what to do. She just didn't have any idea how severe it was going to be. "Hi." Lily mumbled, stumbling her way into the kitchen. She opened the cabinet and grabbed a mug. David was sitting at the island drinking coffee, "Good morning, Lily." He said with a warm smile completely overlooking her messy state which made her feel a bit better. She gave him an uncomfortable smile back. Victoria gave Lily a fresh cup of coffee and took the mug from her to make a cup for herself. Lily took it and grabbed creamer and sugar to make her coffee exactly how she liked it. She didn't often drink coffee but when she did she was picky.
She practically chugged most of it when Victoria came over with her own. She leaned across the counter top and looked at David with worried eyes, he gave her a concerned look back. Victoria looked at Lily, she was staring at her half empty cup of coffee. "Do you work today?" She asked, Lily pulled herself from her thoughts and made eye contact with Victoria's light brown eyes, "Yeah, can you take me?" She asked softly, Victoria leaned back up, "Are you sure you don't want to take today off?" Lily shook her head, "No, if I do that then I'll spend all day here thinking about it." She said referring to the situation that happened last night. Victoria nodded, "I still think you should stay here, think about it, okay? If you decide you still want to go, I'll take you." Lily didn't say anything. "Do you want to talk about it?" Victoria asked softly, unsure how Lily would respond.
"Sure, ...I was upset because Dave's been working a lot. Like constantly. Even when he comes home he works. I want to be able to spend time with him, but he hasn't been putting any effort into being with me the past couple of weeks. So, when he got up in the middle of the night I thought I would talk to him and tell him how I was feeling. But instead I just blamed everything on him and I didn't even give him time to defend himself properly. Granted he's not very good at communicating his feelings but I'm in the wrong too. And then I told him he needed to stop working so much. I shouldn't have told him what he needs to do. It kinda just blew up from there and he mentioned something about how if I can't handle his lifestyle and his work ethic then I should just get out."
David let out a hum in thought, Victoria didn't say anything. "Do you want me to talk to him?" David suggested looking at Lily, "I know he doesn't want you to move out. I genuinely don't think he's going to stay upset for very long." Lily shrugged at David's words, "I don't really want you to say anything to him. I would rather have him work through it and talk to me when he's ready." David took another sip of his coffee before he got up. "I have to go soon, I'll tell you what he says if he talks to me today though, Lily." She gave him a soft smile. David hugged Victoria tightly and kissed the side of her head, "Can I come back over tonight if you're free?" He asked her and Victoria nodded happily with a big smile on her face. Lily was content to see her with someone who made her smile like that. She deserved it after all the shit Todd put her through. She never had a voice in that relationship and Lily knew David wouldn't take her voice or argue over petty shit.
