Victoria and Lily walked through the streets of LA, "So, what are you getting Todd?" Lily asked. Victoria shrugged, "Well, I was thinking of getting him a new belt, maybe a nice shirt." Lily smiled and looked at Victoria, "I think he'll like it." Lily was already convinced that Todd was exceptionally boring but that drove the nail into the coffin. Lily dragged Victoria into a vintage shop so Lily could look at old records and hopefully find something for Dave. Victoria followed Lily around like a lost puppy, Lily stopped and looked through the racks of shirts, she found a couple he might like and pulled them over her forearm to hold them. Victoria found a box of bracelets, "You should get him this!" Victoria smiled holding up a heart shaped bracelet that read, 'Love' in cursive. Lily smiled and grabbed the bracelet out of Victoria's hand. "Don't fuck around." Lily said seriously which made Victoria laugh before she gasped and held up a black two stranded bracelet with a small metal skull on the front. "He actually might like that." Lily said as Victoria handed it to Lily, she turned the bracelet around in her hand examining it. "I think that's everything." Lily said, looking at Victoria.

Dave was frantically looking around the house, everywhere he could. The basement, closets, basement again. Even the attic, but he couldn't find any wrapping paper, gift bags, or even tissue paper. Dave walked to the phone and dialed Junior's number, he picked up the framed photo of Lily and her mother together standing in front of the Bellagio Fountain. Dave had been planning this present for the past couple of weeks. Junior answered the phone, "Hello?" Junior said on the other line, "Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me today? I need to get a bag and a picture frame." Junior was a bit confused by the items on Dave's strange shopping list but he agreed to go out with him. The edges of the frame were beginning to tear and break. The frame was made out of a flimsy painted plastic so Dave thought along with the picture the least he could do was buy a new frame.

Junior and Dave got the bag for Lily's gift and a nicer, better wooden frame. It was much stronger than the original weak frame. "I want to get Lily something else but quite honestly I'm not sure what she would want." Dave said thinking out loud, Junior squinted his eyes as he thought. "We could go to one of those hippie shops. They always have pretty good jewelry." Junior suggested but Dave shrugged the idea off. "If I'm going to get her jewelry it needs to be expensive. I'm not gonna buy her that junk." That's exactly what they did.

Dave was looking through the jewelry at the store and the two men were getting lots of stares and attention. "Can I look at this?" Dave asked, pointing at a necklace inside of the case, it was a diamond shaped red ruby stone in the middle of a gold chain. He looked up to the woman working in the store, she looked Dave up and down. Skinny jeans, bullet belt, baggy band-tee, and all. The woman nodded hesitantly and opened the case pulling the necklace out in front of them. Junior smiled, "I think she'll like it." Dave nodded and looked at the woman, "How much is it?" He asked, she smiled softly, "I don't think you'd be able to afford it. I could show you less expensive options." Dave sighed in frustration before he said, "How much is this?" he said in a harsher tone causing the woman to clear her throat and stand a bit taller, "It's $100." She said clearly and Dave nodded, "Do you take cash?" He asked seriously and the woman widened her eyes a little in surprise. "Yes." Dave pulled out his wallet and the woman closed the box before putting it inside of a gift bag and handing it to Dave. He paid and they left the store. Junior bursted into laughter once they left. "Did you see the look on her face? What a bitch!" Junior said between laughs.

Once Lily got home she wrapped up the gifts in a bag, Christmas Eve was tomorrow. She had gotten her dad a book from an author he used to always read when she was little, for Mary she got makeup brushes since she knew absolutely nothing about the woman, and for Luke she got new comics. Dave came home a few minutes later, he was holding the bag behind his back. "Close your eyes!" He said when he walked through the front door, "Why? Is there possibly a certain gift you don't want me to see?" She asked, closing her eyes and putting her hands over them. "No, why would I get you something?" Lily rolled her eyes although her eyes were hidden. He walked over and set the bags down on the counter, "Keep your eyes closed." He said softly wrapping both arms around her waist and pulling her body into his. He pressed his warm lips against hers and kissed her gently. Lily moaned into the kiss before Dave trailed down her jawline to her neck, Lily began pulling her hands off of her eyes, "Ah, keep them closed!" He squeezed her hip and Lily chuckled, putting her hands back over her eyes again. "Is that my present?" He asked, eyeing the red bag that had tissue paper sticking out of the top. "Yes, and you're not allowed to peek. If you peek I'm going to be pissed." Dave laughed, "I won't peek I swear. I didn't peek at my birthday present!" Lily smiled as Dave kissed Lily's cheek and pulled away, "I can't imagine the amount of self control you had to keep yourself from looking." Dave smiled, "It wasn't that hard to not look. Don't be mean." Dave grabbed the bags and put them in the closet. He decided to wrap the presents up tomorrow.

Christmas Eve

Lily pulled on a green long sleeve dress. It stopped mid thigh and had a low V cut neckline. Dave was very much enjoying the way it looked. It hugged Lily's waist and smoothed tightly over her hips. Dave took in a deep breath as he stared at her, "My god. Do we have to go?" He asked leaning against the bathroom door frame, Lily was finishing applying her lipstick in the bathroom mirror. "Yes. We have to go." Dave sighed, "Fine, I guess since we can put it off, I'll wait for tonight." Lily smiled a little, she turned to look up at him, setting down the lipstick. He stood up and walked over to her. He pushed the side of his face against hers and breathed in her scent. "Have I told you yet that I'm really glad I have you again?" He said softly, Lily smiled and placed her hand on his arm before sliding her hand down and grabbing his hand. He squeezed her hand back and his other hand was on her waist. The faint sound of holiday music filled the bedroom from the radio and flowed into the bathroom. They started to sway together, Lily placed her head on his shoulder, "I think I love you." She said quietly, entangling her fingers with his. He smiled manically and placed his head on top of hers. "I'm pretty positive I love you too."

Lily took a deep breath in and Dave placed his hand on the small of her back, "It'll go smoothly, we have the presents, we know about Mary, your Dad's hopefully in a good mood because it's the holidays, and we're together. Nothing can go wrong." He looked down at her and she smiled although the fright was painted all over her face. She prayed he was right. Dave rang the doorbell and they waited until they heard footsteps headed toward the door. Mary was standing in the doorway. Her hair was a bit longer now but just as straight and dark black as it was before. She opened the screen door and her lips curled into a smile immediately when she saw them. "Merry Christmas! How was the drive over?" She asked, holding the door open as they walked in, "It wasn't too bad! A bit busy but traffic is expected." Lily answered, Mary shut the door behind them and smiled brightly as she hugged both of them. "I'm so happy you could both make it! John's in the living room watching a movie and Luke should be upstairs in his bedroom." Lily nodded and set the gifts down, "Do you want me to put those under the tree?" Mary asked as Lily pulled off her shoes, "Could you?" She asked and Mary picked up the presents with a smile, "Of course! Dinner will be ready in half an hour." Mary walked out of the foyer and to the living room. Dave kicked off his shoes before looking down at Lily, "Wrath of the father first or delight of the brother?" Dave asked sarcastically although to Lily it didn't feel very sarcastic. "Might as well introduce you properly to the old man first. Last time we were 'just friends'" Lily said with air quotes. Dave smiled and followed her into the living room.

John was watching 'It's a Wonderful Life' on the TV, he used to always watch it on Christmas Eve with her Mom. No matter how many Christmases she has lived through without her Mom it was never the same. "Hi Dad." Lily said blandly, a little unaware of what to say. He gave Lily an awkward smile before scanning his eyes to Dave who was standing behind Lily, "You brought your friend again. Does he not have family to see?" John asked abrasively, "No, he has a family, but I thought it'd be nice for my boyfriend to spend Christmas with us." John hummed and looked back at the TV. "Merry Christmas." He grumbled and Lily rolled her eyes walking out of the living room. "He's such an ass." Lily mumbled and Dave silently agreed. They went upstairs to Luke's room, Lily knocked softly and Luke opened the door before he smiled and hugged Lily. "Could you have taken any longer?" He said with a laugh, "Yeah, we could've, be happy that I'm even here, you little shit." Lily said, Luke looked up at Dave, Luke was a bit taller than Lily but Dave was still taller than him. "You brought Dave? Ew, are you two like?" His words trailed not wanting to say it, Lily raised eyebrows and leaned in a bit waiting for him to say it with a smile on her face, "Dating? Yes, we are." Luke faked a gag and Dave chuckled, "Dinner will be ready soon, so come down." Lily said before her and Dave went back downstairs. The rest of the evening was quiet, the dinner was much less chaotic than it was last time. Everyone was sitting around the living room when they opened their presents. Once the conversations died down and Lily's eyelids were dropping, Dave decided they would call it a night. They said their goodbyes and Lily was asleep on the way home.

Lily woke as she felt two arms wrap around her torso lifting her in the air, she wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head back down closing her eyes. Taking in Dave's familiar feeling she smiled softly, "Are we home?" her tired, raspy voice spoke softly. "Yeah, we're going straight to bed." When they got into the house Dave set Lily on the edge of the bed and helped her change out of her dress. The few glasses of wine she had at dinner were making her tired and the night ended once again in Dave's arms.
