July 1986:

Lily groaned as she rubbed her eyes shuffling in the bed. Sinking into the warm pillows she opened her eyes slowly, a small lamp was left on from the previous night. Lily sat up in the bed and looked around examining her environment. She remembered meeting a man who offered to take her to his house to which she agreed. Her body ached and her head was still pounding. She knew it was going to be a long day.

Once she emerged from the bedroom she heard music from down the hall. Lily followed the noise rubbing her temples as she walked. She found Daniel standing in the kitchen rinsing plates, "Could you turn that down please?" She asked rudely, Daniel turned around and looked her up and down admiring the way she looked in his clothes. "Yeah, sorry. How'd you sleep? You looked like you were going to fall asleep just walking to the bedroom." She didn't move or change her face as she watched him turn down the music and look back to her waiting for a response. She grumbled under her breath and sat down in a stool by the island. "Can you make some coffee?" She asked, laying her head down in her hands closing her eyes. Daniel made a cup of coffee and set it in front of her before placing his hand on her shoulder, "Do you want pancakes? You need to eat something." She knew he wouldn't take no for an answer although Lily was concerned that she would puke it up almost immediately. She shook her head.
"Lily, you need to eat." He said demandingly she looked up at him, her soft brown eyes were blood-shot and her eyelids were heavy. She looked like she could pass out right there.

After reluctantly eating the eggs and bacon Daniel made, Lily looked across the table meeting his eyes. "I have to work today. Could you drop me off?" She asked pleadingly, Daniel nodded his head before taking her plate and setting it in the sink. "I think you could use more sleep." He chuckled to himself as he watched her trying to keep her eyes open. "I think I'll be fine. Thanks though." She hissed getting out of the seat and going back to the bedroom to change out of the clothes he had given her to sleep in. Pulling her jeans on she buttoned them, she had a white tank top underneath the gray sweater that she left unzipped.
Lily carried Daniel's clothes as she walked into the living room where he sat reading some magazine. "Here." Daniel looked up and shook his head, "Keep them, I have too many clothes." Lily smiled before holding up his boxers, "You sure you don't want these back at least." Daniel chuckled and shook his head, "Not after you've worn them." Lily rolled her eyes, tucking the clothes under her arm. She walked over to the couch and sat next to him. "What are you reading?" He turned the magazine over to her. Megadeth it read in big letters, Lily's blood boiled as she looked at Dave's face. The resentment and anger that she managed to push down the past couple of years came up again. She knew he would become famous one year, he was incredibly talented and kind hearted inside. She missed him desperately but she knew they would never see each other again. He was a hot shot and she was a ditsy whore snorting lines. Maybe if he never had to leave they would still be friends but life changes quickly and you have to change with it. She knew that.

"They're album's pretty good, it says they're releasing a new album in 2 months." Daniel said, she muttered something under her breath before she took a deep breath in pulling her eyes away from Dave's dark black sunken eyes, they were still able to capture her. Although now they looked angry and melancholy. "That's good for them." She said seriously before standing up, "Can we leave now?" She spoke gratingly, almost barking commands at him. Daniel gave her a sharp look before nodding and standing up, "I want to give you something first." Daniel walked into the kitchen and grabbed a piece of paper out of a notepad and quickly wrote something on it. "If you ever need somewhere to stay give me a call, okay? Even if it's for tonight." He spoke softly, Lily was reluctant to take the paper. Daniel grabbed her hand and put the paper in it, "Please call if you need someone." Lily didn't take her eyes off of him, she just stood there staring at him coldly. He walked past her towards the front door, pushing the paper into her pocket before following him.

Lily worked as a waitress in a small diner outside of Los Angeles, they got a decent amount of customers although she was still getting paid shit. Lily untied the apron from around her waist setting the apron in her small locker, she grabbed the t-shirt Daniel had given her and pulled it over her tank top. It was easier to wear it then carry it somewhere. She left the boxers and apron in the locker though. Leaving the restaurant she was back to her old routine, walking the streets of Los Angeles until she heard loud metal music coming from a house full of drunken people. All of her valuables, clothes, and makeup were either left in the locker at her work or at a friend's house that she would crash at for a few days although she was running out of friends. Reasonably they got tired of her knocking desperately on their doorstep at 3 A.M. reeking of booze and drugs.

She walked into the house, drunken people scattered everywhere, snorting lines off of table tops, and lighting cigarettes. She walked to the kitchen grabbing a bottle of beer as she gulped hopelessly. She sighed and leaned against the counter until a few guys came over and started lining coke on the countertop next to her, "How much?" She asked curiously, "15 bucks a line." One of the men answered. "Are you shitting me? 15 is ridiculous, at most 10." She argued, "Do you want the coke or not?" Another man pressed, "Fine." Lily reached into her bra pulling $15 dollars out and handing it to one of them. She beant over and pressed her finger against one of her nostrils before closing her eyes and sucking in deeply through her nose. She threw her head up and took a deep breath opening her eyes and shaking her head a little, "Fuck." She sighed. The room started to spin and her body felt light, she started to stumble before gripping on to the counter. She walked through the crowded halls of people, it felt as though the Earth was moving and pulling her body in every different direction at once. She smiled as she saw a woman smoking a joint. Lily stumbled over to her and asked if she could take a few hits, to which the women agreed. Lily wandered through the big house gripping the walls when she could. Taking sips of the beer she had previously picked up. She made it safely to a corner of the house, closing her eyes as she pushed her head against the wall.

After a few minutes of falling in and out of consciousness she felt two hands on her waist, she looked up to see a big man who was clearly very much out of it and doped up on more than a couple things. She let out a groan of frustration and tried to push him off of her. He leaned in kissing her neck aggressively, Lily was able to slip away from him walking away. He followed her and grabbed her again, "I know you want it, whore." She tried pushing his hands off of her again but it was no use, he was desperate and willing to put up a fight. Lily yelled, "Get off of me you douche bag!" She looked desperately around the room for someone to help but no one even glanced. The music swarmed in her head and her blood coursed, she could feel his rough hands making their way up her body.

Suddenly it was silent, the music was muffled and the lights were now dim, she stumbled and caught the sofa's armchair. Turning her head around to see what had happened she saw a tall slim ginger haired man standing in front of the man who was attacking her. He was now laying on the ground gripping the side of his face. Dave looked at her with concerned eyes, he looked different. Different from the picture in the magazine. Different from the soft young face he had when they were still friends. He was a man now, and a very angry one at that. Dave looked back down at the man and grabbed his collar and kept hitting him until his knuckles were bruised and the man's face was practically a pancake. "Dave! Fucking quit it, will you!" She weakly pushed the ginger off of the man who was close to passing out. Lily's beer was spilled all over the floor now and her head was still spinning. Dave stood up fully, wiping his mouth with his bloodied hand. Lily stumbled away, almost tripping over the man's legs. She walked towards the front door as Dave yelled for her. She couldn't stand to see him now, she convinced herself that they were too different, they were living two different lives and neither one of them should be in the others. She needed to get away from him, she wanted to punch him and kick him and scream for what he did, for forgetting about her. She also wanted to hug him and kiss him and tell him just how much she missed him, ask him about his life now and let him into hers.
