We had walked in and I instantly grabbed some jeans, skirts, shirts and a pair of sneakers. I looked up, raising an eyebrow at Dew. Who's long blonde hair was in a ponytail. He had to 'glamor' himself before leaving the church, which did cause me to freak out for a hot second.
"Why are you looking in the dresses?" I asked.
"Just trying to help you look for stuff. Can I see the sizes you have?" He asked me. Then walking over to weed through the sizes in my hand.
"I'm going to go try these on." I said and dew nodded looking back through the rack.
After about ten minutes of trying clothes on I was going to end up leaving with some new wardrobe staples. "Hey (y/n), where are you? I want you to try this on and show me." Dew said as I stepped out to take what he had.
"A dress? really? The platform Mary Jane's I like though." I told the ghoul.
I took them and going back into the dressing room to try them on to ease Dew's mind. "Dew you are one lucky fucker." I said behind the dressing rooms walls.
"Why?" Dew asked as I walked out and his jaw dropped open "Okay it was hot on the hanger but even better on you." Dew said, staring at me in a simple black skater dress with bell sleeves.
"Dew my eyes are up here." I chuckled "But I do love the dress!" I said as I went back into the changing room to gather everything I was buying. When I walked out Dew held his arm out to me.
"What?" I asked, looking at him.
"Give me the dress and the platforms." He said with a smile.
"Dew you are not buying them for me!" I exclaimed looking at him wide eyed as he took them from my hand knowing I'd fight him if he didn't. "Dew no!" I yelled as he went to pay for them.
I had caught him too late and rolled my eyes paying for the rest of my stuff. The two of us walked into the bookstore next door.
"You didn't have to do that." I playfully scoffed looking at him as he handed me the bag.
"You probably wouldn't have bought it if I didn't. You didn't seem fully confident in buying it so I made the decision for you." Dew said with a chuckle.
The two of us spent about an hour combing through books. I bought a series to read but sat there pointing out other books on my list and ones that looked interesting. Dew sat there intently listening and watching the ones I picked out adding his opinions on the ones he read. I went to pay for the series of 4 books and Dew was behind grabbing a few of his own, and a few of the ones I had mentioned. I wasn't paying attention to him when we were checking out, not realizing the books I had mentioned in his pile.
"Record store?" I asked with a slight chuckle as he excitedly grabbed my hand dragging me there.
Dew and I spent at least two hours flipping through albums and talking about the music we both enjoyed. Music wise Dew and I had a lot in common. We were both into the more rock and metal scene but had a few guilty pleasure artists. Post Malone being one of Dew's. Dew was kind of upset that he had to sacrifice a copy of "beerbongs & bentleys" for a copy of "Master of Puppets" by Metallica, so in return I snuck the album in with a few I bought myself as a surprise for him later. And yes it did surprise me that these bands were here but the places we were from weren't. I wasn't going to complain, if the gods above wanted me to have a more convenient life I won't complain.
"Are we all good?" Dew asked me. He took a few of the bags I was carrying to lighten the load. I tried to protest but he continued to keep trying.
"Yeah, I just don't want to go back yet." I said looking up into his eyes with a smile. It was a beautiful day out and the town was cute, besides I didn't know how much longer we would be here.
"It's almost dinner so we can have coffee if you want? There's a nice cafe and it's nice out." Dew said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Let's go get some coffee then!" I replied, grabbing his hand as I walked out pulling him in tow.
We walked hand in hand to the cafe window shopping as we went. When we got there I immediately grabbed a table putting my stuff down.
"What can I get for you?" Dew asked, laying his bags down.
"I can get mine Dew you've already gotten me so much." I said softly, fighting him on it.
"(Y/n), you are fighting a battle you won't win. What can I get for you?" Dew asked sternly.
"A Caramel latte please." I said, sighing in defeat.
I watched as he went in and ordered our coffees, smiling to myself. I guess I had zoned out because he came back with the two coffees and two chocolate chip cookies.
"Dew..." I said, raising an eyebrow.
"Eat the damn cookie woman!" Dew growled jokingly, throwing his hands up in surrender.
Dew and I both laughed at the little antic he just pulled but sat talking about what life "topside" as he called it was like and how different it was from his life back In Hell. They sat and got to know the ins and outs of each other, every flaw, every pet peeve they sat outside talking over coffee for so long they definitely were going to be late to dinner.
"Are you cold?" Dew asked, noticing a slight shiver.
"It's a bit chilly but we should be going back soon anyway, I'll be okay." I said with a smile getting up and throwing our cups away.
I turned around and he was smiling at me holding his denim jacket cover in patches of bands he listens to before sweetly saying "wear it, I'm always warm and you're cold."
"Are you sure?" I asked, walking over.
"Positive." He said and helped me put the jacket on before we both collected our bags and we walked back to the ministry.
We had given each other our bags and went to our rooms agreeing to meet up at dinner. I had changed into the dress and platforms Dew bought me wanting to break the leather in, I threw my hair up in a messy ponytail and threw his jacket back on before walking down to go eat. I spotted the table and noticed everybody was there and had a plate ready. There was a plate across from Dew that was ready also with nobody there. I smiled knowing either Dew, Violet, Riley or Spencer had gotten me food.
"Hey guys!" I said cheerfully as I walked over. Riley, Spencer and Dew's jaws all drop open.
"You look hot." Swiss said bluntly, eyeing me up and down.
"Fuck off." Dew growled glaring at Swiss who I just so happened to be placed next to.
I had sat down and started to eat, playing footsies with Spencer and Riley. Ignoring the two ghouls who were glaring at each other.
Dinner had been for the most part peaceful. There was the occasional bickering amongst a few of us. Everyone was talking about their day and what they did. Dew told them about the shopping spree we went on causing me to get suspicious looks from Spencer and Riley.
"Don't get attached, remember we are going home." Riley had whispered in my ear from the seat next to me and I nodded knowing it was a bit too late for that. Dew was at this point one of my best friends along with the two other humans.
Everything was going well until Swiss was telling a story about a sister he was trying to hook up with. Riley had asked exactly how he went about asking her.
"It was kinda like this." Swiss said wrapping an arm around my shoulder using his finger to tilt my chin up to look at him, but before he could get his pickup line out there was a loud growl and then Dew was flying over the table onto Swiss landing them both to the floor.
