The Baroness had been silent all morning. It wasn't until she barked at her assistant to get her lunch that you even remembered she was there. Often times you did that, zoned out into your sketchbook and it got you into worlds of trouble at school. You acted like it helped you concentrate, but you knew it didn't. Although you got fidgety without it, your sketchbook was the biggest distraction you could have.

"Soy salmon, lemon-zest risotto, cucumber sliced into two-inch diagonals at an eighth of an inch width sprinkled with seven leaves of parsley, shredded, not torn."Demanded The Baroness. Oddly specific but no point judging her.

"Girls!"

Claudia makes it overly obvious she's heard the Baroness by shutting her sketchbook up and chirping, "Yes Baroness, Ma'am?" I placed my open book next to the pile of balled up designs I had accumulated over the process of the morning. I looked into her sharp blue eyes again. I had her attention too, less sucking up involved.

"I want these outfits presented first thing after lunch!" She stated. "You said we had until the end of the day!" Complained Claudia almost immediately. "Plans change Lyra." Coldly replied the Baroness. "It's Claudia." The Baroness rolled her eyes. "If you are so bothered with it, you have half an hour to work on it when you get back. Better?" Claudia knew not to complain a second time.

The Baroness looked you straight in the eyes and said, "Do you have the time, Y/N?" You looked down to your watch and croaked, "12pm, Baroness." She smiled at you.

"Claudette, Y/N, back at 1. At 1:30 on the dot, I want Claudette to present in my office. Once she's done, Y/N, I want you to come in and present. Is that alright for you both?" Claudia was red with embarrassment, but wasn't going to poke the bear and correct the Baroness. We both nodded.

"You're free to go."

You went straight to a small café to attempt to work on the two designs you considered good enough. The fresh air hit and you realised how awful the peacock flapper design was. Your head was splitting with all of this stress. You couldn't bear to look at your book again. You were proud enough of your work that ignoring it for an hour wouldn't crush you.

It would.

It really would.

The second you returned the whole atmosphere was sour. Claudia was back early and it wasn't obvious what she did, but she'd infuriated the Baroness.

"Out. Get out Y/N."

She was mad at you? You'd stayed silent, you'd been polite, you spoke when spoken to. This woman was the epitome of etiquette and you'd shown picture perfect manners. Unless that ginger bitch opened her mouth. There were a hundred and one things she could use against you.

The 10 minute meeting felt like hours, but eventually you were seated opposite Baroness Von Hellman and her cold blue eyes, sketchbook open. She pulled a purple pen out of a drawer and asked, "Do you mind?"

You shook your head and she proceeded to scrawl all over both designs.
