AN:
Please excuse the awful sunburn lines and cropping of my prom dress 😂😂

You'd spent all of Friday cooking. Bread dough needs to prove for as long as possible. Make the meatballs from scratch and stuff them with cheese. Make your own pasta with the pasta machine in the cupboard that could be older than you. The entire day had been sacrificed to make sure everything was perfect and every detail was 'just so'.

"John!" You called. "Yes Y/N?" He walked over to you. "Do my hook and eye!" You barked. "I- I'm sorry..." you replied. "No problem! I get worse from Victoria, on a good day." He laughed. You giggled before asking, "Would you go grab Victoria?"

You teased your hair one final time looked over your outfit in the mirror.

The dress was a family dress. It had been a bridesmaid dress at a few family weddings but you'd only worn it for prom. Seeing as you are the youngest girl in the family, you haven't really had the chance to 'pass it on' so you've had it in a box for years. The dress was decently dressy, but, obviously, you were making a mountain out of a molehill. Was it too fancy? Was it not fancy enough? Was too much skin covered for Victoria's liking? What was she even going to wear herself?

"Y/N..." Victoria gasped. The room had been decked out in candles, flowers and sheer romance. "Happy late birthday, Victoria."

John smiled and pulled Victoria's chair out, and she sat opposite you

John smiled and pulled Victoria's chair out, and she sat opposite you. "Oh I had no idea! Thank you so much darling!" Victoria gushed. She was bright pink and a tear was forming in her eye. She wiped it and sat down.

In the cold and calm manner in which she ate in restaurants, Victoria began to eat at your days work. When she ate, she had a couple of unique mannerisms. Other than her little nibbles, that so. Seeing as she's 'not a big meal person', Victoria takes a small bite of everything on her plate then calls it a day. Today, she wasn't doing that. She knew that you worked and worked for this, and she just kept eating. Whether it was to replenish herself after her sickness or to make you happy, it wasn't clear. But she was overcome with joy, so you were happy too.

"I think Claudia's going to quit."

That was what broke the silence!

You snorted, in an uncontrollably unladylike way, before apologising. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry! It's just hilarious that all we can talk about is work!" You laughed. Victoria chuckled in reply. "In all seriousness, what's the deal with that then?"

Victoria swallowed a mouthful of bread and pasta, rested her head on her hand and smirked. "Soo..." she began. "When she came to speak ill of you, I told her she was talking out of her arse." "Mhm." "In a nicer way obviously." "Obviously." You agreed. "The look of anger and offence just made it seem that she was done with all of this." Victoria spooned more food in her mouth.

"Y/N, this is gorgeous!" Victoria cooed, washing her meal down with a swig of wine. "Thank you, again." She smiled. "Follow me!" You commanded, leading her across the halls.

The way that the Hellman Hall Ballroom was made had given it the title of one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture you'd even seen. There was a grand piano that was usually moved out of the room. John sat on the stool and smiled, "How was dinner ladies?"

Gaping mouthed, Victoria gasped, "I didn't know you could play!" "Everyday is a school day, ma'am." John. "Oh you have GOT to teach me!" Victoria begged. "You can't play? I assumed you're the pianist type." You stated. "Can you?" Victoria asked, excitedly. "I was at a grade 7 before I quit." You blushed. "Anyways, that's not important right now." You brushed it off.

"Care to dance m'lady?"

Victoria grabbed your hand and smiled.

"I would love to dance."
