"Does my dress look nice?" Jennie asked, fiddling with the bottom of her dress as soon as you parked the car.
You turned and let your eyes roam over her figure. "You look beautiful," you answered honestly. "I don't even need to tell you how beautiful you look. And it's not because of the dress."
Your words made her blush and she swallowed nervously.
"You're nervous?" You stroked her cheek with a finger. When she nodded, you said, "Don't be. We did this before, yeah? It'll just be a casual dinner." Your friends would behave themselves, you were sure, but you'd be lying if you said that you weren't the slightest bit worried about them asking you two about your relationship.
Jennie nodded, taking a deep breath to collect herself.
You gave her a reassuring smile and a small kiss, leaning across the center console of the car. "Okay," you whispered against her lips. "Ready?"
"No."
You snickered. "Too bad, princess. We're already here." A second later you got out of the car, rushing to the passenger side to help her out. You teasingly called her princess but continued to treat her like one.
Her hand met yours and she cautiously planted one foot out before the other. You gripped her other arm tightly as she did.
Locking the car with a small beep, you looped your arm with Jennie's and led the way inside. Even at just the entrance of the restaurant, you could tell how nice the place was. The lighting was soft and mostly yellow, giving the restaurant a very calm and romantic ambiance. Light chatter filled the rooms but it was by no means loud. You thought you could hear live piano.
Before you could inspect any further, you felt your phone buzz and assumed it was a text from one of your friends. As you looked down to dig through your pockets while continuing to walk through, you accidentally bumped into someone, your shoulder harshly colliding into theirs.
Your head shot back up, an apology automatically spilling from your lips. "I'm so sorry - are you alright?"
It was a woman, slightly shorter than you but not as short as Jennie, dressed in a bright red dress with matching lipstick.
You were genuinely concerned and apologetic and it showed on your face. Did she even understand what you said?
"That's alright," the woman answered smoothly, a smile pulling at her lips. She looked at you up and down, her polite smile turning into a smirk.
"Are you sure?" You double checked, your brows furrowed. You did shove her pretty hard, if the dull ache in your shoulder was any evidence. And you were wearing a thick jacket while she was only in a dress, leaving her shoulders bare.
"I'm sure," she said a bit quieter, licking her lips and eyeing you in a very flirtatious manner. "Though I'm sure you could make it up to me anyhow."
Your eyes widened and you let out a laugh of disbelief. "No thanks..." you deadpanned with a humorless, dry chuckle, your tone switching from concerned to rude as soon as you figured out that she was flirting. "My girl is literally on my arm and you're - " You shook your head with another laugh, turning your attention to said girl on your arm. "C'mon babe," you murmured, finally giving your attention to Jennie and tugging on her arm.
She only looked amused even with her sunglasses on, and even more so when the brazen woman scoffed in bewilderment and walked off.
As soon as she was out of sight, you let out a full belly laugh, pulling Jennie into you and kissing the top of her head. You shook with stifled laughter as you did and kept your mouth pressed into her hair. She joined your laughter, letting out a small giggle.
