Drinks with your friends was not going as you anticipated. Jackie and Arin were sloppy and dancing somewhere with their friends - that you expected. Rory was sitting at the bar, sipping at her martini as she played hard to get with every guy that tried to flirt with her.
You were at your guys' table, housing the same drink in your hands that you got an hour ago. It was warm at this point, all of the ice melted and diluted the dark brown liquid. You should be having fun, that much you understood. What you didn't understand is why you weren't.
You suspected it had something to do with being away from a certain cat-eyed, five-foot-four, brunette idol. You let out a dejected sigh at just the thought of her.
After your heated makeout that lasted exactly ten minutes, like Jennie had been counting in her head the entire time, she had to physically shove you out of her front door and into your car. It left your ego a little bruised, and so were your lips but for completely different reasons. You imagined her dancing at this very moment, having fun with all the dancers and her members. You felt envy at just the thought of others getting to see her laugh and smile.
"You're such a buzz kill," Rory hauntingly chuckled. She approached the table, stopping to stand right in front of you. "Missing her that much?"
"Yes," you sighed, setting down the glass and leaning back against the cushions. "Yes, I am." You weren't even ashamed about it.
"You're like actually a wet blanket."
You scowled. "You know - I don't even know what that means."
Rory flicked your forehead. "It means you're supposed to be having fun but instead you're sitting in the corner, moping about a girl. Jesus, Y/n, you're more wrapped around her finger than her superfans."
You only hummed because she was probably right. "I'm sorry!" You exclaimed. "I tried to have fun but I can't. I tried dancing with Jackie and then some random guy came up and started groping me and I was not having it!"
Your friend snorted, slumping down to sit next to you, forcing you to scoot over to make room unless you wanted her to stay half on top of you. "So loyal for a girl that isn't even your girlfriend."
"Yeah, yeah."
"You really like her?"
You paused. "I thought I already told you this."
Rory shrugged. "I'm just making sure. It's only been two weeks, you know."
"I know," you said grimly. "I don't know what to tell you. It's just different with her."
She chuckled. "They weren't kidding when they said lesbians move fast."
You huffed. "Yeah, whatever."
"I'm only kidding. Sort of," Rory joked. "But at the end of the day, if you're happy, then that's all that matters. I just worry about you, kid."
With a nod, you sighed, "I know. Thank you."
"The girls and I are just a little worried that... your inexperience with dating - "
" - Just stop there," you interrupted, teetering on the edge of annoyance. "Thank you for being so concerned, and I get it, it's fast and I don't really know her. I get it."
Rory drew back slightly and closed her mouth.
"I don't know how to explain it, and even if I did, it probably wouldn't make any sense anyway," you said. "I know I haven't dated much and when I have it was never anything serious. But I just need you guys to let me do this. And let me be with her. I know we've skipped steps or we're just moving really fast, and maybe you don't trust her yet but honestly, I don't care. It feels right."
