Watching Jennie in her element was something else. Truly.
You were nervous about coming onto set with her. You asked if it was too risky, what the exposure would be. But Jennie assured you that the Chanel crew was like her family now and they've kept anything she's ever said private.
And now, watching her jump around and have fun, simultaneously showing off her jewelry for the camera, you had to smile.
You adored her. Simply and devastatingly so.
She glanced at you in between shots, shooting you smiles and winks. And when there was a break in between cuts, she headed straight toward you, staring you down with her smokey eye makeup and red lipstick.
"What are you thinking about?"
"You're amazing," you said simply. "So incredibly talented."
Jennie laughed bashfully, shaking her head and biting her lip in a smile.
"Come on, don't do that," you chuckled. "You know it's true."
She shrugged, flashing a shy smile.
"What are we waiting for?" you asked, looking around at the crew who seemed focused on all their tasks.
"Recalibrating the cameras and lights," Jennie replied easily, glancing around to mirror you.
You smirked a little. "You sound so professional."
"Well, I should hope so. I am quite experienced in this!"
You tilted your head. "Thank you for inviting me."
And with another cautious glance, Jennie dared to move in closer to you, wrapping her arms around your shoulders to pull you into a hug.
You hugged back carefully, too afraid to mess up her hair or makeup or anything else.
Jennie noticed, because of course she did, only letting out a small laugh into your neck.
"Take me out to dinner when I'm done?" she asked as she pulled away, jutting out her bottom lip for maximum effect.
You could only nod and smile, under the total mercy of this woman. Already, you forgot about your qualms from yesterday. And perhaps that was part of the problem. Jennie was always too easy to forgive. You weren't even sure if you hated that. "Any suggestions?"
Jennie's eyebrows raised in excitement. "Yes, actually! Lisa told me about this place her and Rosie went to. It's supposed to be super exclusive and romantic."
"It is Paris, yeah," you laughed out. "All of the restaurants are kind of like that."
Jennie rolled her eyes, fingers squeezing the flesh of your shoulder. "More so."
You smiled anyway. "Whatever you want, love."
She melted there, hating how you could turn her into mush with just one word. With a sigh, she pecked your cheek and then gripped your shoulders. "I'm going to head back," Jennie said with a pout, beginning to retreat backwards before you could protest. "Before you distract me any more from my job."
With a snicker, you crossed your arms across your chest, nodding in acceptance. "I'll be watching."
"Behave," she warned teasingly. "I saw you touching the camera over there."
Caught. "It was calling my name!"

It's dismantling, really, just how fast things can change.
Quite actually dismantling. Taken apart. Ripped to pieces.
It's even worse when you can't do anything about it. When you have to stand idly by. Feeling useless isn't something you're used to.
