Devastation was becoming a familiar feeling for Jennie.
It started when she came home that night, after the concert and the celebration and the drinks.
She entered her home begging and hoping that you were there waiting for her like all of the other nights she'd come home late. She knew you'd be mad, it was understandable, but in Jennie's eyes it was nothing the two of you couldn't get past.
Oh, how wrong she was.
Kuma was at her feet as soon as she shut the front door and she kneeled down to quickly pet him, glancing around to see if you were there. "Babe?" she asked hesitantly, her heart beating faster and faster.
At that point, Jennie knew you weren't there but she didn't want to believe it. She went to her room, searching for any indication of you.
Everything was exactly as she left it that morning.
There would have been at least one light on if you were here. But the house was dark and desolate and empty, reflecting just how Jennie was beginning to feel.
She called your phone next, praying that you were just at your condo or out getting something, and not on an airplane with no way to answer her texts or calls.
Three calls later and Jennie had to accept it for what it was: You left. She begged you to stay and you left.
Her breathing got heavy and her heart ached but she knew that she had done it all to herself. As much as she liked to pretend she didn't, she shouldn't have gotten so attached to you.
She took a quick shower and settled into bed, realizing how lonely she truly was before you came into her life and upset the boring balance of everything. Cuddling up with Kuma wasn't enough anymore and for the rest of that night, Jennie tossed and turned, hugging various pillows until she fell into a fitful sleep.
The next morning was lonelier and a whole lot more devastating.
When she went into her closet for an outfit for the new day, her heart dropped at what she saw.
Your clothes, the small collection you had built over the couple of months in her closet, still there.
It made her suck in a sharp breath through her teeth and her knees nearly buckled from under her.
And when she went through it all, pushing aside hangers to see just what you left for her, it made it all hurt so much more.
There were all of your hoodies and sweaters, including most of your favorites. It made Jennie bite the inside of her cheek because it really hurt her: wondering if she ruined one of the best things to ever happen to her.
She remembered asking, multiple times in fact, if you had grabbed everything from her closet before you left. Adamantly, you answered yes. Doing laundry the night before was a hell in itself because she had stopped herself from stealing a hoodie or two from your collection.
And here they all were. You had left them all for her.

Jennie couldn't remember the last time she had breakfast alone and talking to her mom on the phone wasn't enough to distract her.
And when she knew your flight had landed, because of course you had shared those details with her, she called you again and again.
No answer.
For the next couple of hours, Jennie told herself that you were just tired, busy with adjusting back to your old lifestyle and probably greeting the tons of people that missed you. She told herself that you would call her soon, and chose to believe you were better than ignoring her.
