Chapter 16: Disaster Strikes (episode 16)

Onyx guided Champ and Stinger back the way they had come. The journey was slow. Their injury was not helping at all.

"I seriously can't believe how far off track you guys went from his location." Onyx said teasingly. "Though... maybe it was fate that you ended up where you did. Otherwise we never would have had a chance to save Mika."

"It all worked itself out in the end." Champ said. "Justice always prevails."

"Just warning ya both, if things go wrong with Scorpio I will be in no condition to help you for a little while longer."

"But once you're healed enough, you will help if we need it?" Stinger questioned.

Onyx sighed. "I don't know. Scorpio had pieced it together that I'm the mysterious kyuranger. If I face him like that, he'll know it's me."

"Aren't you worried he'll tell Don Armage? What about that Thunderbird guy too?" Stinger asked.

"Thunderbird is a nobody. Don Armage would think it's him trying to get a better standing. As for your brother... all I can say is we have a compromise as both of us have secrets we don't want Jark Matter to find out about." Onyx replied.

"Is it true that Scorpio killed Dr. Anton?" Champ asked after a moment of silence.

Onyx glanced over at him. "Yes. He's responsible."

"So... he's my enemy."

"I'm sorry, Champ."

"Hmm?" Champ made a questioning noise. "What are you apologizing for?"

"I... I was the one given the task of killing the doctor. But... I couldn't bring myself to do it so I sent Scorpio instead. I feel guilty about that. If I had just agreed to it... at least his death could've been painless."

"You were there that night?" Champ asked.

Onyx nodded. "Did you never put it together yet? Who else would've dropped a kyutama in your face."

"Moo... It never crossed my mind."

"So," Onyx glanced between the two, "we have one who wants to save Scorpio and one who wants to beat him into tomorrow. This should be interesting."

Stinger looked over at Onyx. "Do you... think I can?"

"I don't know, kid. I really don't know."

After a long journey, they finally came to the big moraimars that Scorpio was taking residence in. Onyx stared up at it.

"That's where Scorpio is." They stated.

"In there..." Stinger whispered, staring at it.

"Yep. And this is where we part ways. You know to call me if you need anything."

"Okyuu. Thanks, Onyx!" Champ stated.

"Okyuu... I still don't get that..." Onyx rolled their eyes. "Anyway, last words of advice. Be careful. Assume evil until proven good. I know you want it to be the other way around but for both of your sakes, it's best you don't."

"Alright..." Stinger didn't seem very happy about that advice.

Onyx placed a hand on his shoulder. "Stinger, I know how badly you want to believe in your brother, but please remember he joined Jark Matter willingly. No one forced him to do this."

Stinger said nothing in reply. "Let's go, Champ."

Champ nodded. Onyx watched as they walked out of sight. They went to the moraimars themself. Scorpio was in the main room. He stood up and faced them as they entered.
