Chapter 36: The Secret Is Out (episode 44)

It had been a few days since they had broken into Jark Matter's home base. Things had been very quiet. Almost too quiet. It was at least nice to get a little bit of a breather before they had to get really intense again.

Tsurugi had been a lot quieter than usual since then. He still hadn't forgiven Onyx for keeping such a thing a secret from him. Onyx wished there was something they could do to make it up to him, but all that was available was to keep going forward and live with their mistake.

Everyone was gathered on the bridge. There was a call coming through to them. It was from Hoshi Minato.

"Long time no see. It is I, Hoshi Minato." He greeted. "Because you exposed Don Armage's plan, everyone is ready to leave Jark Matter."

"Looks like even the Chief Retainers were fooled." Balance commented.

"As for me," Hoshi Minato continued, "I plan to go around encouraging the resistance. Everyone, this is a critical juncture. Let's do our best."

"Thanks, Minaty!" Hammie waved goodbye.

"Don Armage's all that's left..." Lucky said quietly.

"I know he lost his base, but doesn't it seem too quiet?" Raptor asked.

"Surely he is up to not good." The commander agreed.

"If only we knew what he was planning to do now..." Raptor sighed.

"There was no plan beyond the one we just stopped. Unfortunately, we have to play it by ear. I have no further ideas on what he wants to do now." Onyx said.

"Thanks for waiting!" A door opened and Spada came into the room, pulling a cart with food on it. "Today we have nine-herb rice porridge!"

"Eh?" No one seemed that happy with the choice of food.

"That won't give me the energy I need! Gimme curry!" Tsurugi was the one to take the initiative to complain out loud for everyone.

"Non, non! This isn't ordinary porridge." Spada stated, "This is-"

Before he could finish, one of the kyutamas that had been placed on the table activated. The Pegasus kyutama. It jumped into the air and placed itself onto Spada's blaster, fully activating. A... metal horse appeared attached to Spada's chest.

"What's this? I don't get this guy!" The creature said, forcing Spada to hop around the room in giant leaps. "Eat the nine-herb porridge and you'll be in tip-top shape!"

"Pega-san!" Lucky called.

"Long time no see! You guys doin' okay?" Pega-san responded, "I'm Pega-san."

"Why... me?" Spada was suffering.

"Um... who?" Kotaro asked Lucky.

"Pega-san of the Pegasus constellation." Lucky replied, "He helped us fight when we first arrived on Earth."

"What? A child shouldn't be here!" Pega-san stated.

"Pega-san, Kotaro is no ordinary child." Spada tried to mitigate before a fight started.

"That's right." Shou spoke up, "Kotaro, as well as myself, have formally become members of the Kyurangers."

Pega-san drug Spada down to talk to the commander. "For real?! Sounds like quite the story! Will ya tell me what happened?"

"Oh, very well." Tsurugi replied. "Lend your ear to the legend that we have woven."

"You're the president of the first galactic alliance. Ohtori Tsurugi!" Pega-san seemed to know who he was. "Oh, I feel like I'm dreaming! But how are you still alive?"
