Chapter 32: Onyx's Home Planet

The next day started off as normal. While Lucky might now be a king, he was still a Kyuranger first and foremost. He had a lot more responsibilities than just taking care of his star system. There was much to do.

"Alright. Now that we have dealt with that issue, it is time to begin searching for the kyutamas we need." Tsurugi got right on task once more.

They were so close to finally getting inside Jark Matter's home base. So close to finally having a chance to end this. And so close to Tsurugi finding out that Don Armage's new host was Cuervo. Onyx was getting more and more anxious at the thought the closer they became to it being a reality.

The discussion on where the kyutamas might be was interrupted by another emergency call.

"Eh? Another distress signal?" Kotaro complained.

"Raptor." Shou said.

"Yes! It seems this call is coming from Planet Ansar of the... Kogitsune System." Raptor trailed off.

"That's... your home system, Onyx." Hammie commented.

"Do you think..." Tsurugi didn't finish his question.

Onyx took a deep breath. "It very well may be in retaliation for what we did."

"We need to investigate it then!" Hammie stated.

Onyx really didn't want to investigate. They swore they would never go back. They never wanted to set foot back on that horrible place again.

"Onii-chan? What's wrong?" Tsurugi seemed to have picked up on their hesitance.

"I... I don't want to go back there." Onyx admitted, their ears flattening against their head. "I'm scared to face everyone..."

"Is Planet Ansar your home planet?" Raptor asked.

Onyx nodded. It was.

"If you protect them from Jark Matter, I'm sure you can regain the trust of everyone." Balance said.

"Yeah! You can't keep hiding forever." Spada agreed.

"Do you wish to pick your own team? Or shall I spin the wheel? Either way, we can't ignore the distress signal." Shou asked.

Onyx glanced around the room. They were being forced to go on this mission. Forced to confront their past.

"Tsurugi, Spada, Champ, and Stinger." Onyx stated. They were arguably the ones who knew them the best. They'd have also brought Lucky, but they wanted him to rest a bit more.

"I wish you all the best of luck. Call if you need help." Shou sent them on their way.

When they landed, Onyx barely wanted to move. They stepped out of their voyager and looked around. It had been so long since they had been here. So long since they had dared to show their face here. No one would personally know them anymore. It had been too long. But, they were certain their name would be known. Whether that was a member of Jark Matter or simply as a serial killer, they didn't know.

"Where to?" Champ asked.

"There should be a village not too far from here if nothing has changed." Onyx replied numbly.

"Lead the way." Tsurugi nudged them forward.

Onyx took a deep breath and forced themself to move. They had to save these civilians from Jark Matter. They had a duty as a Kyuranger to fulfil. They just hoped no one would realize who they were.

It wasn't too long of a walk before they reached the village. It was in shambled. The building were destroyed and there was fire everywhere. Onyx stared blankly ahead. It reminded them of too much.
