- CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE - 🌒 Codominance 🌘
Jordan sat on a chair, watching as Iris made a circle of candles. "So what are you doing again?" He asked, making Iris glance at him, "I need to see just how much damage Theo did to Lydia. When someone inexperienced tries to look into someone's memories, many things could happen." Iris said while lighting the candles.
"You could make someone go catatonic, like Lydia. Or you could paralyze someone, and in worse cases you could break someone's mind to the point they're brain dead, or you could kill them. With humans, you're more likely to do bad damage, but Lydia's not completely human and she's not dead, so I need to figure out how intact her mind is. And to do that, I need to go into her mind." Iris said.
Cecile walked into the living room, holding out a small bag. "Flower." Cecile said, making Iris look at her before grabbing the bag. "Thanks, mom." Iris said before putting small protection charms in between each candle. Omari walked in, holding Valen, and looked at Iris before chucking lightly.
"Still feels like yesterday that you were having to walk her through all of this." Omari said, lightly nudging his wife, who laughed softly while Iris glanced up at them in amusement. "Yeah, in fourteen years, I'm gonna have to do the same with Valen." Iris said before stepping over the candles and sitting down.
"Oh, um-" Iris started to say as she looked up at Jordan, "If my nose starts to bleed, blow out the candles and get me out of the circle as soon as possible." She said. Jordan looked at her in both worry and alarm as he glanced at Cecile and Omari before looking back at his girlfriend. "What does it mean if your nose starts to bleed?" He asked and she shrugged slightly, "That I mentally traveled where I shouldn't have and that can be very dangerous." Iris said nonchalantly.
Iris, noticing the worried look on Jordan's face, smiled and winked at him. "I'll be fine." She said before taking a deep breath and closing her eyes, whispering something in french.
Iris opened her eyes after a moment to find herself standing in Lydia's room in Eichen House. Iris glanced around cautiously before she walked to the door. When she walked out into the hall she glanced around before noticing Lydia down the hall. "Lydia." She called out, making Lydia spin around, "Iris?" She asked, in a slight whisper as Iris walked over to her.
"You're in my head. How are you in my head?" Lydia asked and Iris sighed softly while glancing around, "I did a spell that lets me see into your mind. I wanted to see if your mind was damaged in any way." Iris said before noticing something behind Lydia. "That's slightly concerning." Iris said, making Lydia turn around to see Valack's broken cell.
Lydia cocked her head to the side as she walked over to the large hole broken into the glass of his cell, barely noticing the fact that she's walking over broken shards of glass as well as she walked up to it. Iris stood back, glancing around until someone else suddenly spoke up.
"Do you know how he did it?" Meredith asked, making Iris look over to see the glass of the cell completely intact and now Meredith stood inside, holding a paper cup as she looked at Lydia curiously. "He put the recorder in the cup to amplify my voice..." Lydia said as Iris walked up and stood next her and slightly shook her head.
"It didn't just amplify your voice- it gave it direction. A focus." Iris said and Meredith nodded before holding up a recorder as she walked closer to the glass. "Valack used your scream as a tool by focusing it." She said as she put the audio recorder into the cup, "If you're going to use it as a weapon, you need to learn to do the same thing."
Meredith held the cup against the glass and suddenly, the recording of Lydia's scream started, shattering the glass into pieces that fell to the ground at Lydia's and Iris' feet.
All of the sudden everything changed and now they stood in the library of the highschool. Meredith and Iris watched from behind as Lydia walked over to the bookshelf where the seniors inscribed their initials during senior scribe. She frantically knocked the books onto the floor only to find the shelf itself was completely blank.
"Our names are gone. Our initials..." Lydia said in a slight whisper as Iris moved to stand next to her, she moved a few books on the shelf below to find it empty. "Not just your guy's. Derek's years' names are gone too. Everyone's names are gone." She said and Lydia started at the shelves with a terrified look, "What am I supposed to do? How do I save them?" She asked.
"Don't be afraid..." Meredith said, but her voice was distant and echoed, making Lydia and Iris look at each other before walking over to the railing. Meredith laid on one of the tables, looking up at them as Theo, partially wolfed-out with his glowing gold eyes, fangs, and claws, stood over her. He looked up, directly at Lydia and growled menacingly as he held his clawed hand toward Meredith, causing Lydia to gasp in fear while Iris' eyes widened.
"No, don't-!"
Despite Lydia's protests, Theo ripped out Meredith's throat and although Lydia's mouth was still closed, her Banshee wail was still heard so loudly that it rumbled everything around her.
Iris gasped lightly, all the candles blowing out on their own as she opened her eyes. Jordan quickly moved to crouch down next to her as she took a deep breath. "Are you okay?" He asked and Iris nodded slightly, "How's Lydia?" Cecile asked, making Iris glance over at her, slightly shaking her head.
"We need to get her out of there as soon as possible." Iris said and Jordan furrowed his brows, "What happened?" He asked. "It wasn't Dr. Fenris who Natalie talked to... It was Valack... He escaped." She said.
