- CHAPTER FOURTEEN -
🎭 Parasomnia 🎭
Iris got out of her car, grabbing a cup of coffee, setting it on the top of her car before getting Valen out of her car seat. "Hi, baby." Iris said and Valen smiled at her as Iris closed the door, grabbing the cup of coffee."Iris!" Someone called out, making Iris sigh softly as she turned to Stiles, who was following his father. "Can you help me with this?" He asked, gesturing to his father, "I'm busy, Stiles." Iris said and he nodded. "Yeah, yeah. You're bringing coffee to your boyfriend but you might be able to help me convince my dad." Stiles said and Iris sighed.
"No, Stiles. Go to school." She said, walking into the station, "Thank you, Iris." Stilinski said, making Stiles scoff as he followed Stilinski into his office. Iris shook her head slightly before walking over to Jordan's desk, setting the cup of coffee down in front of him.
Jordan looked up at Iris and smiled before sighing softly. "You know, one of these days I'm gonna bring you something at work." He said and she chuckled, "Don't worry about it." She said and Jordan gave her a look. "You do this lot, even on your days off like today." Jordan said and Iris shook her head, "This was all Valen's idea." She said and he nodded slightly.
"Oh, well in that case." He said before looking at Valen, "Thank you, Valen." He said and Valen just giggled, making Iris chuckle.
"Parrish!" They suddenly heard Stilinski yell, making them look over at his office. "Just a warning, Stiles is in there." Iris said, making Jordan sighed.
🎭
"I don't see any signs of an attempted forced entry." Jordan said as he looked at Tracy's window. Iris, who had Valen with her, Lydia, Tracy and Jordan had gone over to Tracy's house to take a look at everything after Lydia had called them. Tracy had been having night terrors and Lydia wanted to help so she called Iris and Jordan for some kind of professional help.
"The latch seems okay. You said something about birds, Tracy?" Jordan asked and Tracy looked up, "The bird was at the skylight- the one that woke me up." She said. "Can I take a look?" Jordan asked and Tracy nodded, Irjs glanced around before grabbing a chair and setting it down in front of him.
He smiled at her before stepping on it while she held onto it, "Tracy, you said the skylight was sealed for weatherproofing?" Jordan asked as he looked at the skylight.
"Yeah, why?" Tracy asked and Jordan didn't say anything, just pushed open the skylight making Tracy sigh. He glanced down at Iris before looking out the skylight. "Anything?" Iris asked and Jordan looked over at Iris then Tracy, making sure Tracy wasn't looking to notice the look on his face. "No. Nothing." He said, making Iris and Lydia glance at each other as Jordan closed the skylight and got down.
🎭
"I can't do anything official right now, but I can come back after my shift tonight and watch the house for a couple hours." Jordan said as Iris walked up to him after talking to Lydia who just left. "I'll keep you company then." She said and he smiled and chuckled, "I think I'll be okay." He said and she raised her eyebrows in amusement.
"This is your own time, it's only fair you have a little company." She said and he just shrugged slightly. "This is also your own time. And I wouldn't do it if I didn't think something strange was going on. I also owe you." He said and she furrowed her brows, "For what?" She asked and he smiled softly.
"Three weeks of digging through every piece of old literature and mythology, trying to figure out the 'something strange' going on with me." He asked and she hummed and shrugged slightly. "It's definitely been more than three weeks but we never even figured it out. Plus, you never minded helping me out with Valen so it's kinda like free childcare." Iris said, making Jordan raise his eyebrows and chuckle.
Jordan lifted his hand up to Valen, who immediately grabbed his fingers and giggled. Iris smiled softly before looking at Jordan in amusement. "I'll bring you coffee." Iris said, making Jordan raise his eyebrows at her.
"Don't you have work tomorrow? Wouldn't you be tired?" He asked and she scoffed slightly, "I've gone into work after worse things than a stakeout. I can handle it. So tonight I will bring a medium americano, black and keep you company." She said, making him smile and nod. "I'm looking forward to it." He said, making her smile as she started to walk to her car.
🎭
Cecile leaned against the doorway of Valen's room as Iris got Valen ready for bed. "So, is this a date?" Cecile asked, making Iris look back at her, "Mama!" Iris said and Cecile shrugged slightly.
"You can't blame me for asking. You've been hanging out with him a lot. Not to mention the fact that he already kind of treats Valen as his own." Cecile said and Iris just gave her a pointed look as she walked over to Valen's crib. "Have you guys gone on a date yet?" Cecile asked as Iris smiled at Valen while laying her down.
"Maybe we have, maybe we haven't. I'm not telling you." Iris said, making her mother give her an offended look, "Why not?" Cecile asked. "Because if I tell you then you'll tell dad and the two of you gossip more than a stereotypical teenage girl." Iris said and her mother scoffed lightly.
"We do not." Cecile said and Iris gave her a look, "I had told you that I was ready to start telling people that I was pregnant and it took not even a full day for everyone we knew in New Orleans to know... I had only told like four people." Iris said and Cecile pursed her lips.
"That's different." Cecile said, making Iris raise her eyebrows, "How?" She asked. "That was two parents being excited in becoming grandparents." Cecile said and Iris hummed and nodded. "Goodbye, mom. I'll be back later. Love you." She said, kissing her mother's cheek before walking out.
🎭
"One black medium americano for Deputy Parrish." Iris said as she walked up to Jordan, holding a coffee out to him as he chuckled, "Thank you, Dr. Knight." He said, making her smile at him. She leaned against the car next to him and looked at the Stewart household.
"As far as I can tell, no one's gone in and no one's come out." He said, making her sigh, "Sorry for wasting your time." She said, making him look over at him. "Not a total waste. I'm just glad Tracy's okay." He said and she nodded, "Plus, gives me another excuse to hang out with you more." He said, making her laugh softly.
"We seem to try to find excuses to hang out a lot." Iris said and he nodded, "I'm still looking for a good time to ask you out on that date." He said and she hummed slightly, looking at him with raised eyebrows. "I wouldn't mind counting this little hang out as a date." She said and he chuckled and shook his head.
"If I were to take you out on a date, it would be something a lot better than an unofficial stakeout." He said, looking over at her, making her look at him. They stared at each other for a moment before Iris smiled and looked down at her drink. Jordan smiled softly for a moment before looking away.
