- CHAPTER TWELVE - 💰 Smoke and Mirrors 💰
"I still don't like relying on these things." Derek said, looking down at all the guns that covered the table. "I get it- you miss your power. I would, too." Braeden said and Derek sighed and shook his head, "It's not about power, it's about being able to help. I don't like feeling helpless." Derek said and Iris set down the gun she was helping load.
"I'm human, Iris would be completely human if she didn't have magic... Do we look helpless?" Breaden said as she finished loading a gun and Derek chuckled, "You're a much better shot than me and Iris has powerful magic." Derek said, still deep in thought. Iris sighed softly as she glanced around at the guns.
"You guys finish up here, I wanna go see my daughter before I go on a potential suicide mission." She said before gently grabbing Derek's shoulder, "You'll be fine." Iris said and Derek cocked an eyebrow. "You believe that?" He asked and she pursed her lips slightly, "Not entirely." She said, making him hum and nod slightly.
She gave him a smile before patting his shoulder and walking away.

"Are you sure this plan of yours is safe?" Cecile asked, making Iris chuckle as she looked down at her daughter, "Absolutely not." She said, looking at her parents. "There's something you're not saying." Omari said, making Iris look at him for a moment before sighing softly and shaking her head.
"I don't know, I just have a bad feeling. Like something really bad is going to happen." Iris said and Cecile raised her eyebrows, "If you think you might not come back from this, don't go. You need to do what's best for Valen, not the others." She said and Iris shook her head. "No, no. It's not that. I'm gonna come back, that's a promise. I just can't help but feel like someone is going to get badly hurt." Iris said.
"Should I come with you? Just in case something does happen there's at least one other person there to try to prevent it." Omari said and Iris quickly shook her head, looking at her father. "No. You guys are retired. From working and dealing with supernatural drama. It was your guys idea to watch Valen whenever as long as you don't have to work or deal with the supernatural." Iris said and her father gave her a look.
