Chapter 21: We Both Saved Each Other

Buck's POV:

My eyes fluttered open, revealing a dimly lit hospital room. Shitttt why the hell am I laying in a hospital bed... again? I tried to replay the last thing I remember in my head, but all that came up was sitting with Eddie, waiting to go meet my niece. Then my mind draws a blank. My head starts stinging and I bring my hand up to try and ease the pain. That's when I felt the stitches, invading my head. It was just like I was waking up after my attack all over again. I looked around the room and it was empty. I felt my heart drop a little as I realized Eddie wasn't there. I hear a sound coming from the bathroom in my room, it was the toilet flushing. I felt my heart speed up as I had no idea who was behind that door. The door opened to reveal the man who somehow loves me, of all people.

Eddie: You're awake. How long have you been up?

Buck: O-only a few minutes. My throat stung.

Eddie: Here mi amor. He grabs a bottle of water and brings it to my lips. Drink.

Buck: I take a sip, an immediate relief to my pain. Thank you. What happened to me?

Eddie: He sits down next to my bed and takes a deep breath. You had another brain bleed Buck. I could have sworn my heart stopped. They are unsure what caused it. But they said it was slow and that's why- He had tears threatening his eyes, that's why the signs only graduated slowly. I almost lost you. I thought I lost you. He let his tears fall now.

Buck: I pause for a minute not really sure what to say. Why would this happen? I've been so careful not to hit my head, and I haven't Eddie.

Eddie: Hey we will figure this out. For now, you have me. I am right here Evan.

He leans over to me and gives me a quick but reassuring kiss. I can't wrap my head around what he just told me. I really just don't understand how this could happen. I really have been careful with my head, even at work. I knew my risk for another brain bleed was still high so both me and the rest of my family have been taking large precautions. The only thing that would be reasonable, barley, is one morning I woke up with a really bad pain in my head and a nasty bruise. That is the only thing that seems even somewhat the cause, because I know nothing else could've happened. I hear a knock on the door and look up to see Maddie and Chimney, a smile invading on both their faces.

Maddie: Well, I am glad to see my baby brother awake. She gives me an even bigger smile.

Chimney: How ya doing Buckaroo?

Buck: Tired. Maddie shouldn't you be in bed resting? You just had a baby.

Maddie: Her face fell slightly as she began to speak. Buck, you've been asleep for 3 days.

Chimney: Buck there is someone we want you to meet. I watch as Maddie fully reveals herself now holding a beautiful baby girl in her arms. Buck, I want you to meet your niece, Jee-Yun Buckley Han.

Maddie walks over to me and gently puts her into my arms. Jee looks up at me, a smile on her face. "Hi Jee, I'm your uncle Buck." I felt my heart swell with joy as I held her in my arms. I was finally an uncle; my niece is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. I looked over to Eddie whose eyes were full of love as he just watched me with Jee. I began speaking softly to Jee as she cooed. Before I knew it, she was fast asleep in my arms. I felt small tears threaten my eyes as I watched her sleep peacefully.

Maddie: We should probably get going. Jee only has a limited time before we have to bring her back. I will see you later, baby brother.

She walked over planting a kiss on my forehead before grabbing Jee out of my arms and walking out of my room. Me and Eddie were left to ourselves. His smile only grew bigger as he reached up and grabbed my hand. I let out a yawn as he laughed a little. "You should get some sleep Cariño." He leaned down and gently kissed my lips. I let sleep take me over as I felt Eddie's hand drawing little shapes on my hand.

Time Skip to 3 Days later: Buck is leaving the hospital.

Me and Eddie were getting the last of my things out of the room. I was back to where I started. I can't go to work anymore, and I am stuck needing surveillance. Luckily, I don't need it 24/7 like after I was attacked. Eddie is letting me stay at his place again, which I'm not complaining about as I get to spend more time with Christopher and him. I watched as my two doctors walked in.

Doctor Murphy: Hello Evan, we are ready to let you go, Now remember to take it easy.

Buck: Of course, Doctor. Thank you so much for everything you have done.

Doctor Wolke: We are glad to help Evan now if that head even starts bothering you come right back. And hey, hit me up some time, we can grab some drinks or something.

I gave Asher a nod as he patted my shoulder. During my time here me and Doctor Wolke have bonded, turns out we have some stuff in common. Everyone came and saw me throughout my hospital visit.it was nice being able to talk to everyone and hear about what was going on in their lives. Eddie of course barely left my side, which I was thankful for. During one of the nights my nightmares decided to show back up again. Eddie told me about the Jesse guy who claimed to know me, but I don't remember that name at all.

Eddie takes my hand and walks me out the hospital to his truck. He helped me in being the amazing boyfriend he is. When I got into the truck, I heard a voice behind me making me jump out of my skin.

Christopher: BUCKYYY!

Buck: Hey Christopher, how long have you been here?

Eddie: I could hear him chuckle as he closed my door and walked around to get into the driver seat. Carla put him in here about... He looked at his watch. About a minute ago. It was his idea, he wanted to surprise you.

Buck: Well, I was definitely surprised. My superman has once again made my day.

Christopher: You deserve it, Buck.

We drive back to Eddie's house and order pizza to celebrate my return home. Eddie's home is like my home now too. I feel at peace here with him and Christopher. They made me feel safe and loved. I loved them both so much. I couldn't ask for anyone better in my life. Eddie actually cared about me, loved me, didn't care about all of my problems and was willing to work with me unlike some of my Exes. I really don't know how I was able to have someone as amazing as Eddie to call mine. He was too good for me, but he still loved me anyway. For that I will always love him.

After we all ate our Pizza, we put Christopher to bed as he was really tired and could barely stay awake. He asked me to read a bedtime story. His face was lit up by a smile as I read one of his favorite stories, "Green Eggs and Ham." I even tried to do his voice as I read to him, making him laugh. Eventually Chris fell asleep, and I turned around to see Eddie crying while staring at me.

Buck: I pulled him out of the room to not wake Christopher. Baby, what's wrong? I bring my hand up and cuff his cheek.

Eddie: It's just- seeing you with Christopher makes me realize how much that kid loves you and you love him. I am so lucky to have you Evan. He sniffles as his tears begin to subside. He then reaches down and grabs my hand before continuing. I really don't know what I did to deserve you but God I am thankful for you. I would be lost without you in my life. And seeing you with Christopher tonight really made me happy, mi amor.

Buck: You're lucky to have me? Edmundo, I am the luckiest man alive because I am able to call you mine. You saved me, honestly. I was at a low point in my life when you came. I could never repay you for that.

Eddie: I think we both saved each other.

Eddie pulled me into a kiss as he placed his hands on my waist. The wetness from his tears is still apparent on his face. The kiss was sweet and passionate. I used this moment to express all of my feelings at once, as a way to show just how much Eddie meant to me. To express all of the words I couldn't say. I used this kiss to say it all. I pulled away from Eddie resting my forehead on his. "I love you, Eddie."

He smiled as he looked into my eyes. "I love you too Buck."
