Chapter 20: Change of Plans

?'s POV:

I started to walk out of the hospital, rage filling my entire body. This Eddie guy was making it really hard to accomplish my goal. Boss is going to be mad at us. I saw HB pull up in our car honking his horn for me to get in. I get in the car, feeling HB's eyes on me.

HB: Well, JB, did you get our goal done?

JB: No, this stupid Eddie guy was there again. I let out a low growl, this man infuriates me. He is making this fucking difficult! I slam my hand against the dashboard as HB begins to drive. That man is going to pay.

HB: Brother, calm down. Let's go back to the apartment and see if we can find anything new. It's been a week since we last went there, something must have changed.

I nod to his idea as he turns the car around heading in the direction of the apartment. After about 10 minutes we pulled up to the all too familiar apartment building. We get out and make our way up to the apartment. We decided to take the stairs so as to not bring us any attention. We have already been caught once, and we can't risk it again. Thankfully we got the main key to his apartment when we had our first interaction with Buck. I silently open the door and HB lets it silently close behind him.

HB: Yo, Jesse. Why don't you go look up in the loft.

Jesse: Roger that Hamilton.

I head upstairs leaving my brother to scurry around downstairs. I started by looking at his bedside table and finding his laptop. I opened it up and of course it was locked. Just my luck. I put his computer back and began to search through his draws. Nothing new here. I holler down at Hamilton to let him know, and he responded with the same thing. Just then my phone rings.

Jesse: Yo boss, what's up?

Boss: Jesse... Hamilton... He prolonged each of our names. Give me an update.

Hamilton: Well, we did put a tracking thing on his phone and have been paying attention to all of his moves. We came in here last week, knocked him out with the morphine like you wanted and bashed that stupid head again. Just like you asked.

Boss: And did it do the job? Is he taken care of?

Jesse: We had a bump in the plan. He was at the hospital when it was about to kill him. I arrived at the hospital to finish the job, but his stupid friend was there... again.

Boss: Okay, change of plans. Let's keep Mr. Buckley alive. I want you guys to keep a very close eye on him. I will let you know further instructions soon.

And with that he hung up the phone. I looked over to my brother who was pulling a bunch of small objects out of backpack. I looked at his face, it had a dark, mischievous grin that covered his lips.

Chimney's POV:

I was sitting watching Maddie sleep as the doctors took Jee to get her health looked at. Maddie looked so peaceful sitting in that bed fast asleep. I still can't believe our little girl is finally here. Our beautiful daughter. Maddie surprised me when she named her after my mother's name. I really do love Maddie; she means everything to me. I was sitting there just staring at Maddie when my phone buzzed. It was a text from Eddie.

Eddie: Hey Chim, just met with the doctors who helped Buck. He somehow got another brain bleed. He is in recovery now and still asleep. His room number is room 526.

I decided I would go and see Buck, to make sure he is okay. I walked out softly, making sure to not wake up Maddie. I start walking over to Buck's room and try to figure out what could've set off another brain bleed. This all seems impossible. Another brain bleed, that was slow and is only now showing signs. Something smells fishy. As I neared the room I could hear some man yell, "Get the fuck out of my way... NOW!" This man sounded like trouble. I quickly went over to a security guard, and we rushed back to the room. I watch as a man raised his fist getting ready to punch Eddie who was in between him and Buck's bed. Okay that's it, no one gets to threaten my friend.

Chimney: Sir, you need to leave this room. I see Eddie's face turn into immediate relief. The man leaves and mumbles something to his breath as Eddie runs up to me. Eddie what happened? Are you okay?

Eddie: That man came in here demanding to talk to Buck and wouldn't leave. I stood in his way to keep him reaching for Buck. He started to threaten me. And I am fine, you guys got here in time.

Security guard: We will make sure that man doesn't return. We will keep an eye on this room until further notice. I am grateful you didn't try to escalate the problem.

Eddie: No problem officer, and Chimney go see your baby. I'll let you know if Buck wakes up at all or if anything changes.

Chimney: Alright, but please keep me updated.

Eddie: I promise.

In all honesty I really didn't want to leave but that had to have been tiring for Eddie to deal with. I decided to let him be. I can't help but notice how weird and disturbing that interaction was with that man. He seemed so sketchy and up to no good. I shake that man from my thoughts as I enter back into Maddie's room, her still sleeping away peacefully.
