! TW There is a small mention of injury this chapter!
Eddie's POV:
It's only been about a day since the doctor's took the tubes out of Buck and he is breathing on his own now. He still hasn't woken up yet. I know the doctor said it may take a while but I'm worried about him. I just want to hear his voice again. To see him smile. I just want Buck back. I don't know what I would do without him in my life. And Christopher needs him. He can't leave us, not yet. I get myself lost in thought thinking about Buck, Bringing up memories. I can feel light tears falling down my face but I just let them fall. I put my head down onto Buck's bed to try and calm the tears.
All of a sudden, I felt a hand touch my shoulder. Odd, nobody told me they were visiting today. I looked up to see who was here and the sight that was in front of me was insane. It was Buck! He is finally awake. All of a sudden all of my worries about Buck washed away, and it was all brought out through tears. They were happy tears, so I just let them fall as I looked up at Buck's worried expression. He's back, and I cannot be happier.
Buck: E-Eddie, why are you crying? His voice was barely audible and raspy.
Eddie: I'm just happy you're finally awake Buck. I've been so worried. I give him a smile.
Buck: Finally awake? Eddie, what happened to me. He looks worried.
I go and explain everything from when I found him too now. He seemed pretty upset at the news I told him. I would watch as his face expression would change with each new bit of information. Once I'm finished, I watch as he just sits there with a blank look on his face. We sat there in silence for a few minutes before I decided to go ahead and let everyone know Buck was awake. I sent out a group message and immediately brought my focus back to Buck. We sit there and just talk, mostly about past shifts at work. Buck seemed to really want to talk about my first shift at the 118.
One by one everyone shows up to see Buck. First to show up was Bobby, Athena, May, Harry and Michael. They all seemed so relieved to see Buck again, to be able to hear his voice. I can't blame them, I was too. I watch as his smile grows talking with them. It's nice to just sit there and watch Buck as he Interacts with all of them. It makes me so happy to see and watch.
Buck's POV:
It was awesome to be able to see Bobby, Athena, May, Harry and even Michael, even though we don't know each other much. The entire time they were here Eddie stayed in a chair next to my bed. Every now and then I would look over at him to see him just watching me, a smile showing on his face. He would look away when I would smile back at him. At one point when I noticed Eddie looking at me, I could feel a slight blush growing on my face. May and Bobby noticed giving me a look but didn't say anything. Thank God, I don't want to have to explain why.
One by one everyone shows up to see me including the entire 118, Karen, Denny, Maddie and Albert. I could feel my heart sting at not seeing my parents, they just didn't care. I've had to learn to accept it but with everyone showing up to see me it almost made me completely forget about them. At least I have Bobby and Athena. After Everyone left Eddie stayed, I watched as he brought his attention to his phone. After a few seconds of typing, he brings his gaze back up to mine. He gave me a big smile and looked at the door when there was a familiar sound coming from the halls.
It was the sound of crutches. It was Christopher! He is here! I can't wait to see him. I've missed him all too much. He pops his head into the room, his smile growing even bigger. Carla shows up behind him and ushers him into the room.
Buck: There's my buddy! I open my arms for a hug, which he accepts almost immediately.
Christopher: Buckkkkkk! I knew you would come back to us! Just like I told you!
