Fear and Courage

In the crater that Herobrine and Ozul had started their second fight in, Tristen found Serenity. The two looked at each other and nodded, happy to see one another. The two began to fill each other in on what had happened to them when they heard someone coming toward them again. Serenity took her scythe off of her back and Tristen created a sword made out of ice. They turned toward the sound and saw... someone. He appeared to be a dark blue human male but just a little taller than a normal person.

"Who's this supposed to be?" Serenity asked Tristen.

"Haven't seen him around," He replied "Wonder what his deal is. Looks like one of those guardian people."

"True..."

The person stopped walking toward them and introduced himself with "Yes, I am a Guardian. My name is Apatite."

"Apatite, huh? What do you eat a lot or something?" Tristen asked while pointing his blade at their newest opponent.

"No, no... my abilities are far more complex than that... mind warping you may say."

"Well then, why not show us what you can do," Serenity suggested.

"Very well... tell me, have you both gotten over your greatest fears?" Before they could respond, Apatite shot a gigantic beam of light and into the sky and he seemed to disappear.

"Hey, where'd he go?" Serenity asked.

"I don't know," Tristen replied "Stick close."

Serenity nodded and a blue mist fell over a small area of the arena. As the two looked around, Serenity stepped back when she saw a phantom version of someone she never wanted to even think about again. Tristen turned around as well and saw that she was... terrified of Ashley? He saw a bloodied, maddened version of Ashley that had hadn't witnessed since her rampage outside of the Frozen Bastion.

"What the hell...?" Tristen said "What the hell?"

"No... no, no, no, no, no!" Serenity yelled "I am not dealing with your abuse again! I've seen you die twice, and I'll make it three."

"What?" Tristen watched as Serenity jumped toward Ashley and punched at her face.

Serenity's fist phased through her father's head and he laughed before disappearing. He reappeared next to her and she shot a fireball at him, but he just disappeared again. Tristen walked up to her and stood at her side.

"Serenity, what is going on?" He asked.

"I've been seeing a bunch of my... father."

"Wait, what? I've been seeing Ash when she was trying to kill everyone."

"Wait, when was that?"

"I'll tell you later." The phantoms recreated themselves and Tristen asked "Mind if I take this one?"

"Yeah sure, go ahead."

"Thanks," He said, then cracked his neck.

He created a spike of ice next to him and threw it at the phantom, but it just disappeared. He created an ice sword in his hand and spun, then slashed through another phantom. They all reformed and Serenity jumped back to him.

"So they're just illusions?"

"By that logic, they shouldn't be able to hurt us."

"True, but if that's the case, then-" Serenity noticed one of them jumping at them "Get out of the way!" She pushed Tristen out of the way and instinctively blocked a punch... which actually landed "Wait, what?" She was kicked backwards by a Rory phantom and she backrolled to Tristen.
