Draco reached out and gently took Harry's hands, his eyes reflecting a mix of understanding and unwavering support."Oh! Harry, I know about your past but let me tell you something," Draco said, his voice filled with sincerity. "Love doesn't operate on a scale of deserving or not deserving. It's not about comparing ourselves to others or measuring up to some standard. I believe in you, Harry. I see the goodness in your heart, the strength you've shown. Our pasts don't define us; they shape us into who we are today."
Draco paused for a moment, letting his words sink in before he continued, "I understand that trust takes time, and healing takes patience. I'm not expecting you to open up completely overnight. We can take things at your pace; one step at a time."
He looked deeply into Harry's eyes, a flicker of determination lighting up his gaze. "Harry, you deserve every happiness in the world. You are perfect just the way you are; with all your scars and trust issues. I don't want you to be a fake. I want you as you are. You don't have to change yourself to deserve me."
Harry smiled. Tears of happiness shining in his eyes. "Thank you" he whispered gratefully.
"You don't have to thank me for anything." Replied Draco
Intrigued by the concept of creature relationships and lacking prior knowledge on the topic, Harry leaned in, his curiosity piqued. "Tell me more," he requested.
"To claim you as my mate, I would have to mark you," Draco explained. "It would simply alter your scent, nothing more."
"Change my scent?" Harry questioned.
"Your scent is how I discovered that you were my mate. To a mate, the fragrance of their other half is the most heavenly aroma in the world," Draco clarified.
Blushing at the hidden compliment, Harry responded, "Oh, I see. And how would you go about marking me?"
Draco's lips curled into a small smile. "That, my dear Harry, is a long way down the road. There is a courting period where I offer you gifts to satisfy the veela within me, who is already eager for the prospect. Then, I would kiss you and leave my scent on you. Only after that would physical intimacy come into play."
"Oh," Harry managed to utter, his cheeks resembling a ripe tomato by now.
"Draco," Harry began after attempting to tame his blush without much success. "Can we please take this slow? I don't think I would be comfortable with any kind of sexual touches yet."
"One step at a time, remember? We can proceed at your pace. I am willing to wait an eternity for you," Draco assured him, a hint of playfulness in his tone.
A renewed blush spread across Harry's face at Draco's flirtatious remark, rendering him momentarily speechless and also causing Draco to smirk.
"So, we are dating?" Harry confirmed. He couldn't help but hope that this was NOT a dream.
"Yes! My other half; the love of my life; my soul mate; my darling boyfriend and soon-to-be husband" replied Draco, playfulness dripping from his tone.
Harry blushed harder if that was even possible. If things continued going on this way, Harry was sure that he would be stuck with a permanent one on his face.
