Ron was red in the face. He could do nothing but stand there and glare at his brother's murderer. If looks could kill.

"That is enough. I have had enough of you going around doing whatever you want. I will make sure you are expelled and I make sure that you rot in prison for the rest of your life for the crimes that you have committed." Said McGonagall

"How exactly are you planning on doing that? The committee members love me. They will never expel me and good luck finding that proof. Inform me when you collect enough." Was Mattheo's reply.

McGonagall emitted a gruff sound of irritation and reluctantly took a seat, fully aware that she had no authority to change the situation. Despite being held in high regard, she lacked any political influence. Her life had been entirely dedicated to educating young minds, and she paid little attention to the affairs of the Ministry. She remained politically inactive, unlike Dumbledore who was deeply involved. She wished Dumbledore was here, as he had provided a vague explanation of his whereabouts. He had assured her that his actions would contribute to defeating the dark lord. Whatever Dumbledore was up to, she hoped it would conclude swiftly, as this Riddle character was severely testing her patience. Surprisingly, her wish was granted. Dumbledore had entered the castle late in the night. The next morning, she was happy to find him at the teachers' table before breakfast started.

"Albus! You need to know what has...." She started but he cut her off.

"I am aware of the situation through newspaper reports. I have also consulted with the Wizengamot, and they hold the belief that Mr Riddle is not responsible for these events. The committee members were greatly alarmed upon discovering Bellatrix's connection as the boy's mother. They have successfully convinced others of his innocence. Given his role as the boy's godfather, I doubt he will allow any charges to be brought against him. This is a problem for another day Minerva. Right now, it is important that I talk to Mr Potter before anything else."

"Okay, if this is what you see fit. I will inform him that you wish to meet him."

"And Minerva, I have taken a liking to chocolate frogs."

Minerva smiled and let herself calm down.

The tensions were still high during breakfast. Several teachers and a majority of the students harboured fear towards him. Interestingly, the older students were the ones who seemed most apprehensive. Strangely enough, the younger students, particularly the first and second years, held him in high regard, claiming him to have helped them one way or another.

As Breakfast came to an end, McGonagall advanced towards the Gryffindor table and said "Mr Potter, Professor Dumbledore wishes to talk to you. The password is chocolate frogs"

Harry rose from his seat and trailed behind McGonagall, on the way to Dumbledore's office.

"Harry, my boy, please take a seat. You must be wondering the reason behind my frequent and long disappearances. I have found a way to defeat Voldemort."

Harry's eyes widened. Draco had presented him with a choice—to join their ranks. Though Harry didn't trust Dumbledore; but after witnessing Mattheo's actions, he had no intention of aligning himself with Voldemort. However, the prospect of defeating the bald and nose-less man weighed heavily on his mind. Harry understood that by defeating Voldemort, he would also be defeating Draco. Harry knew for a fact that he didn't want to fight Draco.
