Nokomis was curious about the world of humans. She had watched over them for centuries, but she rarely intervened in their affairs. She preferred to let them learn from their own mistakes and grow as a species. But sometimes, she felt a connection to some of them, a spark of recognition that drew her to their stories.

One such story was that of a group of young friends who had gathered at a remote lodge on Blackwood Mountain for a winter getaway. Nokomis had sensed their joy and excitement, but also their fear and guilt. They had lost two of their friends a year ago in a tragic accident, and they were trying to cope with the aftermath. Nokomis felt sorry for them, and wanted to help them heal.

She decided to take on a human form and join them at the lodge. She used her powers to create a fake identity and background, and made herself appear as one of their classmates who had been invited by one of them. She arrived at the lodge with a friendly smile and a backpack full of supplies. She introduced herself as Nia, and quickly blended in with the group.

She soon learned their names and personalities: Sam, the kind-hearted leader; Mike, the brave jock; Jessica, the flirty cheerleader; Matt, the loyal boyfriend; Emily, the bossy ex-girlfriend; Ashley, the sweet nerd; Chris, the funny prankster; and Josh, the troubled host. Nokomis liked them all, but she felt especially drawn to Josh. He was the brother of the two girls who had died, Hannah and Beth, and he was clearly suffering from depression and PTSD. He had planned this reunion as a way to honor his sisters' memory, but he also had a darker motive: revenge.

Nokomis sensed that Josh was hiding something from his friends, something that would put them all in danger. She also sensed that there was something else on the mountain that was watching them, something evil and hungry. She decided to stay close to Josh and try to stop him from doing anything rash, while also protecting the others from the unknown threat.

She soon discovered that Josh had rigged the lodge with hidden cameras and traps, and that he was planning to scare his friends as payback for their role in his sisters' death. He had hired two actors to pose as a psycho killer and a flamethrower man, and he had prepared various scenarios to terrify them. Nokomis was appalled by his twisted plan, but she also understood his pain. She tried to talk to him and convince him to stop, but he was too far gone.

She also discovered that the evil presence on the mountain was an ancient curse that had befallen the native tribe that once lived there. They had practiced cannibalism during a harsh winter, and had turned into wendigos: monstrous creatures that hunted humans for flesh. The wendigos were attracted by fear and blood, and they had sensed the group's presence. They were waiting for the right moment to strike.

Nokomis realized that she had to act fast before it was too late. She used her powers to sabotage some of Josh's traps and warn some of his friends about the danger. She also used her knowledge of nature and magic to create weapons and defenses against the wendigos. She hoped that she could save them all, or at least some of them.

But she knew that she couldn't do it alone. She needed help from someone who knew more about the wendigos than she did: the flamethrower man. He was actually a hunter who had dedicated his life to fighting the wendigos, and he had a lot of experience and equipment. He was also one of Josh's actors, but he didn't know about his true intentions. Nokomis decided to reveal herself to him and ask for his cooperation.

She found him in his cabin near the lodge, where he was preparing his flamethrower for his next scene. She knocked on his door and greeted him with a smile.

"Hello," she said. "I'm Nia, one of Josh's friends."

The flamethrower man looked at her suspiciously.

"Who are you really?" he asked.

Nokomis sighed.

"I'm Nokomis," she said. "The Earth Mother."

The flamethrower man raised his eyebrows.

"Come again?" he said.

Nokomis smiled again.

"I'm here to help you," she said. "And I need your help too."

She then explained everything to him: who she was, why she was there, what Josh was doing, and what the wendigos were. She told him that they had to work together to save the others and stop the curse.

The flamethrower man listened to her story with a mix of disbelief and awe. He had heard of Nokomis before, from the legends of the tribe, but he had never seen her in person. He wondered if she was telling the truth, or if she was another one of Josh's tricks. He decided to test her.

"Alright," he said. "If you're really Nokomis, then prove it. Show me your power."

Nokomis nodded.

"Very well," she said. "Watch this."

She raised her hand and pointed at a nearby tree. The tree suddenly burst into flames, creating a bright and warm light.

The flamethrower man gasped.

"Wow," he said. "That's impressive."

Nokomis lowered her hand and smiled.

"Thank you," she said. "Now, do you believe me?"

The flamethrower man nodded.

"Yes," he said. "I do."

He then grabbed his flamethrower and his backpack.

"Let's go then," he said. "We don't have much time."

Nokomis nodded.

"Let's go," she said.

They then left the cabin and headed towards the lodge, where the horror was about to begin.

A/N: Before anyone asks, yes, Nokomis is an actual figure from Native American folklore. Look her up.

A/N: I always did enjoy the game Until Dawn. Though I'm one of those that never got the privilege of playing, I always did enjoy watching the gameplay.
