Kitana and Silvija Sablinova sat across from each other at a long table in the royal palace of Edenia. The two women were leaders of their respective realms, and had come together to discuss a peace treaty that would benefit both their nations. They were surrounded by their advisors and guards, but the atmosphere was tense and formal.
"Thank you for accepting my invitation, Princess Kitana," Silvija said, breaking the silence. "I appreciate your willingness to negotiate with me."
"The feeling is mutual, Queen Silvija," Kitana replied, nodding politely. "I hope we can find a common ground that will ensure the prosperity and security of our peoples."
"I'm sure we can, if we are honest and respectful with each other," Silvija said. "As you know, Symkaria is a small but proud country that has suffered greatly from the wars and conflicts of the past. We value our sovereignty and our independence, but we also recognize the need for cooperation and trade with our neighbors."
"I understand your position, Queen Silvija," Kitana said. "Edenia is also a proud and ancient realm that has endured many hardships and invasions. We value our freedom and our culture, but we also seek to establish peaceful and friendly relations with other realms."
"Then we have much in common, Princess Kitana," Silvija said, smiling slightly. "Perhaps we can start by addressing the main issues that concern us both. For example, I would like to propose a mutual defense pact that would guarantee our support in case of an external threat."
"That sounds reasonable, Queen Silvija," Kitana said. "However, I would like to know what kind of threat you have in mind. Are you referring to Outworld, or perhaps to Earthrealm?"
Silvija frowned slightly. "I'm afraid I'm not familiar with those terms, Princess Kitana. What are Outworld and Earthrealm?"
Kitana looked surprised. "You don't know? Outworld is a dark and brutal realm that has tried to conquer Edenia many times in the past. Earthrealm is another realm that has been involved in the Mortal Kombat tournaments that decide the fate of the realms."
