The night was dark and stormy, and the wind howled through the trees. Eight friends had gathered at a remote cabin on Blackwood Mountain, where they planned to spend a weekend of fun and relaxation. Little did they know that they were not alone, and that a terrible fate awaited them.
The cabin belonged to the Washington family, who had invited their friends to commemorate the anniversary of their twin daughters' disappearance. Hannah and Beth Washington had vanished one year ago, after a cruel prank by their friends had gone horribly wrong. The pranksters had pretended to be interested in Hannah, who had a crush on one of them, and lured her into a bedroom where they hid a camera. When Hannah realized she had been tricked, she ran out of the cabin in shame and despair, followed by her sister Beth. They never returned.
The only clue to their fate was a video found on Beth's phone, which showed them running through the woods, chased by a mysterious figure. They stumbled upon an old mine shaft, where they fell into a deep abyss. The video ended with a scream.
The police searched the area for weeks, but found no trace of the twins. They were presumed dead, victims of a tragic accident. The Washington family was devastated, and their son Josh took it especially hard. He blamed himself for not stopping the prank, and for losing his sisters.
Josh decided to invite his friends back to the cabin, hoping to heal the wounds and honor his sisters' memory. He also wanted to have some fun, and forget about his troubles for a while. He sent them a message:
Hey guys,
You're probably wondering why I'm sending you this message. Well, I know it's been a tough year for all of us, and I think we all need some closure. That's why I'm inviting you back to Blackwood Mountain, where it all began.
I know what you're thinking: Why would we want to go back there? Trust me, it's not what you think. I've renovated the cabin, and made it cozy and comfortable. There's plenty of food and drinks, games and movies, and even a hot tub. It'll be like old times, before everything went wrong.
I know it's hard to forget what happened last year, but I think we owe it to Hannah and Beth to celebrate their lives, and not dwell on their deaths. They would have wanted us to be happy, and stick together as friends.
So please, come join me on Blackwood Mountain this weekend. It'll be fun, I promise.
Your pal,
Josh
P.S. Don't tell anyone else about this. It's just between us.
Some of Josh's friends were hesitant to accept his invitation. They felt guilty about their role in the prank, and uneasy about returning to the scene of the crime. They also wondered if Josh was mentally stable, after suffering a breakdown following his sisters' disappearance.
But others were more willing to give Josh a chance. They felt sorry for him, and wanted to support him in his time of need. They also missed their old friendship, and hoped to rekindle it.
And so they agreed to go back to Blackwood Mountain, unaware of the horrors that awaited them there.

Sam was the first one to arrive at Blackwood Mountain. She stepped out of the bus that had brought her from Calgary, and looked around. She saw a cable car station that led up to the cabin. She also saw a sign that read: "Welcome to Blackwood Pines".
Sam smiled. She liked nature, and enjoyed hiking and climbing. She was looking forward to spending some time in the fresh air, away from the city noise and pollution.
She grabbed her backpack and walked towards the station. She saw a man standing there, wearing a parka and holding a rifle.
"Hi," she said cheerfully. "I'm Sam."
