The four Autobots stepped out of the groundbridge portal and scanned their surroundings. They were in a dense forest, with tall trees and thick foliage. The air was humid and warm, and the sounds of birds and insects filled their audio receptors.
"According to the computer, the Energon mine should be somewhere in this area," Optimus Prime said, checking his map. "We need to be careful not to attract any unwanted attention from the locals or the Decepticons."
"Roger that, Optimus," Arcee replied. "Bumblebee, Bulkhead, you two take point. I'll cover the rear."
Bumblebee beeped affirmatively, and Bulkhead nodded. The two Autobots moved ahead, clearing a path through the vegetation with their weapons. Arcee followed them, keeping an eye on their surroundings. Optimus brought up the rear, holding his rifle ready.
They walked for a few minutes, until they reached a clearing. There, they saw a large stone structure that looked like a temple. It had a domed roof, a tower, and several arches and pillars. It was decorated with carvings and statues of various human-like figures, some with multiple arms or heads, holding different objects or weapons.
"Whoa, check this out!" Bulkhead exclaimed. "This must be one of those ancient temples that humans built to worship their gods."
"Indeed," Optimus said. "These are the deities of Hinduism, one of the oldest and most diverse religions on Earth. They represent different aspects of the supreme reality that they call Brahman."
"Wow, they sure have a lot of them," Arcee said. "How do they keep track of them all?"
Bumblebee whistled curiously, pointing at one of the statues. It was a blue-skinned man with four arms, holding a conch shell, a discus, a mace, and a lotus flower. He wore a crown and a garland of flowers around his neck.
"That's Vishnu," Optimus explained. "He is the god of preservation and the protector of the universe. He incarnates on Earth in different forms to restore balance and order whenever evil threatens to prevail."
"Like you do, Optimus," Bulkhead said.
Optimus smiled modestly. "I am merely following his example."
He pointed at another statue. It was a white-skinned man with four heads and four arms, holding a book, a rosary, a water pot, and a scepter. He rode on a swan.
"That's Brahma," he said. "He is the god of creation and the first of the trinity. He is responsible for creating the world and all living beings in it."
"He looks like he has a lot on his mind," Arcee said.
He pointed at another statue. It was a dark-skinned man with matted hair, a third eye, a crescent moon on his forehead, a snake around his neck, and ashes on his body. He held a trident, a drum, a rosary, and a water pot. He rode on a bull.
"That's Shiva," he said. "He is the god of destruction and transformation. He destroys evil and ignorance, and transforms life and death. He is also the god of yoga, meditation, arts, dance, and music."
"He looks like he knows how to party," Bulkhead said.
Optimus chuckled. "He does have his moments."
He pointed at another statue. It was a fair-skinned woman with four arms,
holding lotuses or coins or blessing gestures. She rode on an owl or a lotus flower."That's Lakshmi," he said. "She is the goddess of prosperity, wealth, fortune, beauty, and auspiciousness. She is the consort of Vishnu in all his incarnations."
"She looks like she's loaded," Arcee said.
He pointed at another statue. It was a fair-skinned woman with four arms, holding a book, a rosary, a water pot, and a veena (a musical instrument). She rode on a swan or a peacock.
