"Here. Take this file," Adwait extended the neatly arranged planner for the project to Niharika. "I've got all the plans for the project neatly laid out. Have a look."
"One more? Oh God! This workload is simply overwhelming," Niharika sighed wearily as she accepted the file from his grasp.
They had been grinding away for three straight hours without a single break. Adwait was totally immersed on the task at hand, not even noticing the need to pause. Niharika, on the other hand, would sneak in brief breaks every half hour or so.
"If you'd like, you can take this with you and review it at your home," Adwait suggested, mindful of her exhaustion.
From day one, she'd shown herself to be a stellar worker. It was just her tendency to get tired quickly that was a bit of a hurdle. Still, Adwait was seriously impressed by how fast she caught onto things.
"Thank you," Niharika replied with a smile. "Shall we go out for lunch, perhaps? It would serve as a much-needed break for us," she suggested.
Adwait paused for a moment, about to answer, when his phone buzzed. Grabbing it, he found a bunch of texts from Samar.
"Excuse me," He moved towards a secluded corner of the room.
Bro, it's an emergency.
I need you to accompany me for some shopping.
The fest is tomorrow, and I'm completely unprepared in terms of attire.
Can you come immediately? Please. *pleading eyes*
Adwait couldn't help but roll his eyes at Samar's pleading eyes emoji. Seriously, the guy had the maturity level of a toddler sometimes.
Letting out a sigh, he went back to his seat, where Niharika was totally absorbed in the file's contents.
"Niharika, I must depart. Samar requires my assistance."
Disappointment clouded Niharika's expression. "I was hoping we could grab lunch together. Maybe next time," she forced a smile as she closed the file and got up from her seat.
"Yes, absolutely. Next time without fail," Adwait assured her with a promising tone. "And let's not forget, you're invited to lunch at my home as well."
"Oh, how could I forget!" she exclaimed, clapping her hands in delight. "I'm also eager to meet my aunt and uncle. We have so much to catch up on, you know."
He nodded, a smile playing on his lips. Back in their childhood days, whenever she visited his place, she would spend a considerable amount of time with his parents, especially his mom.
They shared a special bond, and Niharika held a dear place in his mother's heart.
"Alright then. Goodbye. See you soon," she moved towards him with open arms for a hug.
