"Here, take this," Samar said, extending a bag in my direction.

I took the bag from him, opened it up, and saw the cash inside. "No way, I can't take this," I handed the bag back to him.

"Come on, bro, don't be stubborn. Just think about it for a second. Please don't turn this down. Don't you see me as your brother enough to take this from me?" he asked, genuinely.

"What difference is this going to make?" I asked Sam, my frustration clear. "The state I'm in right now—money can't fix it. I've lost my business, my house is about to be sold, and as for my parents..." I found it hard to keep going.

He just went silent. He was trying to hold back his tears. I slumped onto the bench, burying my face in my hands. I felt totally defeated. Right now, it felt like there wasn't an ounce of hope to fix the wreckage of my life.

The door creaked open, snapping me out of my thoughts. I immediately got up as a doctor appeared, helping my mom out. I rushed over, took my mom's trembling hand, and gently guided her to sit on the bench.

"How is she now?" I inquired of the nurse.

"She's stable, but not entirely fine. Both physically and mentally, she's quite weak. You'll have to pay extra attention to her mental well-being now. Furthermore, I would strongly advise you to consider admitting her to the hospital; it's in her best interest."

Before I could even respond, my mom stood up and said, "No, I'm not staying here. I can't just sit around while my son and husband are dealing with everything." Tears streamed down her face.

"Mom, please, take a deep breath," I murmured, gently wiping away the tears from her face. "Your health is the top priority now. Don't fret about anything else. I'll take care of it. Have faith in your son."

"But, your dad..." She choked on her words and I could feel my own eyes welling up with tears.

"He'll be fine. He has to be," I tried to reassure her. "Please, don't risk your health by stressing over this. Trust me and let me handle it." I gently guided her back to her seat.

I turned to the doctor, "Please, do whatever is necessary. Admit her. I'll take care of the expenses. I can't risk anything when it comes to her health."

She nodded and called for a nurse, who quickly escorted my mother into a hospital ward.

"Samar, I'm heading to dad. Could you please pick up the medications for mom?" I handed over the prescription slip.

"Sure," he replied, accepting the slip from me.

I extended my hand to retrieve money from my pocket when he halted me, making me look at him. "Don't you dare. I have the money, and I'll take care of it," he asserted.

A smile appeared on my face as I hugged him instantly. At least, I had him by my side in this phase, and I felt grateful to God for it.

I turned and headed down the hallway towards the last ward on the floor. When I got to the door, my fingers trembled on the handle. My heart was racing wildly. Taking a deep breath, I gathered my courage and yanked the door open before I walked in.
