As the staff got the dining table all set up, I was glued to my phone, going through emails and making sure I had everything squared away for the big project meeting. Once I was done, I ditched the device and turned my focus to the amazing spread laid out before me. Man, those dishes looked absolutely mouthwatering.

"Where are Mom and Dad?" I asked, piling my plate high with Caesar salad.\

"Mam's on a call right now, and Sir's in the study, but he'll be here soon," Preeta answered.

I nodded and dug into my meal, the flavors bursting on my tongue. Just then, my phone pinged with a familiar tone. Picking it up, I saw a text from Samar.

Everything is settled.

Setting my phone aside, I focused once again on the feast before me.

Not long after, Mom joined the table, settling into the chair directly across from me.

"Serve me my usuals."

Preeta promptly proceeded to fulfill her request.

"How's the project coming along, Adwait?" Mom asked, looking for an update from me.

"It's going splendidly, Mom. Niharika and I have been actively working on it, and we have successfully finalized Phase 1," I responded with enthusiasm.

Surprisingly, this project had grabbed my interest way more than I ever thought it would. Even though it started as something I was forced into, it turned out to be not so bad after all.

"That's wonderful. We didn't have the opportunity to have a meaningful conversation with her during the last event. Adwait, why don't you extend an invitation to Niharika for dinner? It would be such a lovely gesture. I'm certain she would be thrilled to spend time with us after all these years," Mom suggested.

"Very well, Mom. I will extend her an invitation," I assured her.

I spotted Dad coming towards the table, and he looked like he was ready to explode. His expression and body language screamed anger. I let out a tired sigh, mentally preparing myself because I knew there was probably some problem or issue he was bringing to the table.

"What's this I'm hearing, Adwait?" Dad's voice boomed, causing both of us to stop mid-bite.

I noticed how Mom's eyes were bouncing back and forth between Dad and me, like she was trying to piece together what was going on.

I put my spoon down and glanced away from my plate that still had my half-eaten meal on it. I had a strong feeling that if this conversation kept going, I'd be making a swift exit from the table sooner than usual.

"What's the matter, Dad?" I addressed him directly, even though, I already had an idea of what the issue might be.

"You beat up Mr. Arora's son, and with such brutality. Why?" Dad's voice carried this mix of anger and disbelief.
