"Ugh, I'm so late!" Nitya exclaimed, quickly rummaging through her bag to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything as she rushed to the bus stand.

A car pulled up next to her, and she skidded to a stop. The driver got out, flashing a wide grin and greeted her with an enthusiastic smile. "Hi."

"Raj, what are you doing here?"

"Mom requested that I drop off some things at your house. Aunt mentioned you had just left home, so I thought I'd catch you before you got too far."

"Oh," Nitya exclaimed, "I'll catch up with you later. Right now, I need to get to the university. I'm already running late."

"I'll give you a ride then. Come on," Raj offered.

Nitya hesitated for a moment. Even though Raj was a family friend, the thought of getting into his car felt a bit awkward. She wasn't usually comfortable riding with anyone else, except for Adwait, Virat, and Samar.

"I won't kidnap you, trust me. You can even activate your live location," He tried to ease her concerns.

Nitya chuckled. "Alright."

Raj smiled and quickly held the gate open for her. Nitya settled into the front seat. With him comfortably situated behind the wheel, he ignited the engine and drove off towards her university.

"How's your study going?" Raj initiated the conversation.

"Our yearly exams are approaching, just a week apart, so it's pretty hectic."

"You're going to excel in it. You're a brilliant student," He remarked with confidence.

"Thank you," Nitya smiled, acknowledging the compliment.

Yet, credit was also due to Adwait. He never allowed their dating life to become a hindrance to her studies. Even if she missed lectures, he made sure to send her notes from professors or other classmates.

"And what about you? How's work going?" Nitya asked, mindful of keeping the conversation balanced.

"Same old routine," he replied with a shrug. "Nothing added, nothing subtracted."

They chatted throughout their journey to the university, with Raj mostly asking her questions.

"Thank you for the ride," Nitya expressed as she got out of the car.

"Nitya, listen," Raj called out, jogging a little towards her.

"Yes? What is it?"

He parted his lips with the intention of speaking, only to close them abruptly. A sigh escaped him, and he nervously rubbed his neck. "Nothing. Just wanted to say goodbye."

Nitya was puzzled by his odd behavior, but decided to let it slide. "Goodbye. Have a good day," she offered a small smile.

She quickly made her way toward the main building, pulling out her phone to call Arushi. But before she could dial, her screen lit up with an incoming call from Adwait.
