The bar was full and the dance floor was packed with creatures of all sorts.
Mermaids, Ghosts, Werebeasts and Vampires.
I wondered how many vampires where actually here in this establishment to party.
How many real vampires were living among mortals in Seattle.
How many real vampires lived per state, pre country, per continent.
Am I the only one that knows by accident or were there others in my situation?
"Are you gunna drink that?" George calls me out across the booth. "If you're not drinking that beer, I'll take it off your hands."
Fuck off.
I stare into his eyes as I took a long drink of my cider. The frozen glass mug bit at the curve of my fingers, but the drink eased the heat that I felt inside this furry onesie.
Ugh... maybe he was right. I should've just worn an actual costume or something.
"So," One of George's handsome friends turns his slim torso to face me. "You all work for the same coffee shop?"
This guy seemed nice on the outside, but something about his presence tickled my back in a way I didn't like.
He wasn't wearing a costume like the rest of his friends; on the contrary, he was wearing a formal black button down and tailored jeans that made him stand out from everyone else. Makes me wonder if he just got out of work, it would explain why he arrived late.
"We do." I answer. "It's uh... it's nice."
"Nice?!" George bursts out a laugh. "Just fucking nice?!"
"Babe!" Camilla give him a stern look. "Our deal?"
"What, I didn't even say anything!" He holds his large hands up innocently. "I just think it's funny!"
And I don't see how. I finish my drink. If anything you're just being a loud idiot.
"Well, besides work, what do you enjoy doing?" The late friend asks politely.
"I um... I enjoy reading."
"Oh that's cool." He smiles. "What do you like to read? I'm more of a Sci-Fi guy myself."
"Is that so?" I smile back politely, slightly feeling guilty about the way I liked his lifted freckled cheeks. "I can't say the same for myself. But uh..."
I could see and feel George staring at me from my peripheral. Camilla was too busy chatting with another of his friends to even notice. Not once did he break his gaze even when he wanted to take a drink of his beer.
Why in the fuck is he looking at me like that?
"Um... I tend to read Manga from time to time."
"Manga huh?" He takes a drink of his Jack and Coke. "Isn't that basically a children's book but for adults?"
Excuse me, What? I blinked at him in bewilderment.
"I mean, It's mostly pictures right?"
I mean, I guess he's not wrong. I forced out a chortle.
"Just because it has pictures, it doesn't mean it's for children."
"Does this mean you watch anime too?" He asks.
"Yeah Bro, she's a fucking weeb!"
Now my attention was back at George, annoyance now at full peak.
"Can you not?!" I snarled at him.
"Bro, I'm telling you, this is one girl you don't wanna date!"
"D-Date?!" His late friend was taken aback. "Dude, I wasn't try to—."
"She's literally a fucking child trapped in an adult's body!" He laughs. "At that point you'd be more like a dad than a boyfriend!"
He's just drunk, He's just drunk, he's just drunk. I gripped my cold mug tightly.
"Hey man, that's not cool." His other friend that was talking to Camilla said. "I think you have had too much to drink—."
"You wanna know what else Hunter?!"
I look right at Camilla, pleading for her to stop him as she looked back unsure what to do.
"So apparently, she goes on a date right? And Cammie's friend was giving her so much shit for everything! What she wore, where she wanted to eat, rejecting a dick session—."
OH MY GOD!
"Camilla!" I rise from the table furiously, listening to George go on and on about my date fails as she just sat there in shock.
I trusted her with so much information about my life, what else did she fucking tell him about me that he didn't need to know?!
"OH and don't get me started on her Daddy issues!"
NO. FUCKING. WAY!
I was already suffering from the feeling of my heart was constantly shattering, but this?! This took the fucking cake!
I could not believe her!
I could not believe she told him everything about me; about my dates, about my dad! And all she did was sit there watching me in fear.
Fuck her!
"Dude, that's enough!"
I left the table to go to the bar, ignoring Camilla's call for me to come back to the booth.
I bended for Camilla tonight only to have her boyfriend take advantage of punching me in the chest.
What was she thinking? What was I thinking?!
Believe it or not, I also wanted to take my mind away from the stress and heartbreak.
Yes, I did want to go home, but It's not like I didn't want to hang out with Camilla either. Otherwise, I wouldn't have said yes!
"What can I get ya, Bonita?" A curvy Latina in a bee costume waits for my order. "I love your costume! Super cute!"
Fuck cute. I threw my hoodie back harshly. I don't want to be cute.
"Tequila on the rocks." I took a seat on an empty chair. "Keep my tab open."
