Taking the first couple steps through the golden gates overwhelmed me with the feeling of nostalgia. It was just like I how I remembered it since I was kid; the park bursting with color and light, fresh plants alive and vibrant, and the recognizable twinkling vintage signs illuminating the faux street towards the castle.
What made tonight so special was the princess' from old fairytales roaming about with their prince.
Although normally they should've been only allowed to roam in their own renaissance theme land, they were allowed to make their appearance anywhere they pleased. It was nice to see all of them make their acquaintance rather than just the popular faces we all know. Amongst the large crowd, I think I even saw The Little Mermaid in pastel robes of silk and muslin. Just like in the fairytale.
"Magic Key Street doesn't look packed as it is during the way." I noted out allowed. "It's nice."
"This isn't packed to you?"Arthur blinks.
"This is nothing." I laugh. "You should see this place during the day Babe."
"I rather not." He replies with a scoff. "Quick, let's go in here."
We barely even stepped foot along the 20th century towns before he wanted to go into a souvenir shop. Again, hardly packed but there was still a good amount of people looking at clothes, toys, and jewelry. I was just about to ask him why he wanted to buy souvenirs so early when he guides to the back of the store— stopping before a giant hat wall.
"Go ahead and pick out a hat." He sounded antsy. "The sooner we get one, the faster we can get out of the crowd."
But, I don't wear hats. My brows scrunch up.
"Why do we even need a hat? It's night time, we don't have to wear one."
He closes his eyes for just a second, taking a a quick breath before returning back to a normal tone in his voice.
Was he getting annoyed already? I get that the park can be a bit over whelming, but we just got here.
"I'm aware it's not daylight out." He says. "But I'd be a lot more comfortable if you picked out a hat."
Comfortable?
...
Oh!
Then it made sense.
The bodyguards, the sudden annoyance in his tone, he's wanting to keep me away from any potential evil eyes.
So she could be here—. No. Don't even think about that. He's just trying to keep you safe by taking precautions. Don't fight it.
"Okay Love." I smile, trying to keep the mood from crashing.
My eyes wander along the rows of hats, deciding on which one to pick when I settled on a modern witch hat.
It was black, made from a knit material, and the length was short so it didn't scream cheesy costume witch. It was also slouchy, making it casual to wear even outside the park.
"You sure you don't want to be be a princess?" Arthur forced a playful joke. "You can a wear a pretty pink cone on your head."
"Oh sure, yeah, I'd love to wear a flamingo on my head." I giggle. "I'll stick with a sexy black thank you."
I stuck the hat over my head, adjusting the brim to my liking when he whistles in attraction.
"My, my." He grins. "Sexy in black indeed. Is that why you changed from your white shirt to a black lace top?"
"Perhaps." I winked. "Did you find a hat you want yet?"
"I did." He taps a simple black baseball hat against his other hand. "Nice and simple."
"Aw, you sure you don't want to get that turkey hat over there?" I point out at a stuffed turkey plush hat on a mannequin. "I think you would look really sexy in that one."
"You brat." He scruffs the top of my head with his large hand. "Come on, let's get out here."
