The shadows quickly began to crawl out of the sigil beneath her feet, taking their form as physical creatures and attacking claws first.
Peterson remains close in his invisible form.
"Remember wot I taught ye Lassie! There's no use in runnin' away now! Fight for yer life!"
I strike at the first monster, following my body's instinctive energy without a second thought.
Then I brought down another.
And another, and another. While Peterson's training was being put to good use, having this extra boost of energetic flow made the fight so much smoother.
I was faster.
Stronger.
it's was like second nature to me now.I could even sense the shadows from behind that didn't even have the chance to strike first.
"Rosie, yer driftin' too far off— get off of meh ya bampot!"
I couldn't help but move with the wave of shadows. Everyone around me was so dark and misty, it was hard to tell where I was even going.
"Back off!" I shout, motioning my hand to swing forward.
Branches and vines came to my aid, forming a shield in a blink and pushing the bodies that came too close.
Fuck! I pant. How many are there?!
One of the vampires on my right lunged forward, instantly dying on impact but a shadow attacking me from behind.
I felt it's claws dig deep into my back, provoking a pain cry from my throat before scurrying away.
"Rosalie!" Arthur calls out from afar. "Stay alive now, do you hear me?!"
I hear you my love!
The earth started to tingle under my feet, directing me where to take my steps as my arms still parried and pierced. I pushed bodies left and right, feeling the tingling blood in me burn with power all while kicking the bodies off my sword.
Suddenly, a cold touch from behind alarms me to swing.
"Only me!" Arthur stops me mid-blow. "Baby, you need to get out of here now! Run while you still can and get somewhere safe!"
"And leave you?!"
Vampire on my 12!
I claw up at a stoke, vines trapping the body and crushing it against at the ceiling.
"It's the only way!" Arthur digs his hand into a vampire's chest. "You need to survive!"
"No!"
Arthur growls in anger "Why can't you just do as you're told?!"
I strike again at another body, keeping my back close against my lover.
"Don't you get it?!" He grunts from an action. "If you die, I can't keep living without you!"
"I do get it!" I cry through my giant tears. "And what you don't get is that if you die, my life would be meaningless!"
A sudden hand came down at me, landing it's bloody claws right on my left shoulder when an arrow bursts right through it's forehead.
"Shit!" I lean into the pain. "Who the hell—?"
"Anne!" He assures me. "Are you oka— Get down!"
My body follows his command, feeling the vibrating roar of his strength shake through me while tossing an incoming body behind me. Both corpses were now out cold.
"Baby please," He helps me up. "You must go, Peterson can take you away from here—."
"And I told you, not without you!" I assert my demands. "We're partners! Lovers! Maybe not soulmates, but we are much more that that! We are—!"
