My father and I scrambled to the Garden doors when we heard the piano music started to play.
From the peaks I managed to see through the vine curtained windows, Arthur's parents had already walked down the aisle and taken their places in front.
So much for sticking to Anne's plan.
Midway down the path, Anne and Peterson waved at the family around them. It seemed like some recognized them as they waved back, but it wasn't long before they took their place on each size of the gazebo.
When the doors open again to let Camilla walk down with the rings, the doors close so my Father and I could ready ourselves at the start of the walkway.
My heart was pounding at a hundred miles an hour, my body growing tense as each minute passed when Hugh suddenly jokes,
"Honey, any tighter and you'll break my arm."
Shit!
"Sorry!" I whisper, hearing his breath release from the pain.
"It's alright Honey, I know you're just nervous is all." He stretches out his shoulder. "Man— that's one hell of a grip! Felt that all the way back my deltoids."
"Sorry..."
"There's no reason to be scared Rosie-Bee, you got this." He reminds me. "Once you see him waiting for you, everything will go smoothly."
"Yeah, okay." I huff a nervous laugh. "Easier said than done."
"Would you like me to tell you to imagine everyone in their underwear?"
"Dad!"
A real laugh comes out this time, releasing the bit of the tension that bounded my shoulders.
"See, there we go!" He fixes my veil with a smile. "I know it won't completely rid of your nerves, but at least you can breathe now right?"
"Er... could be better."
"Anything can be better, but we take what we can get." He says. "Just keep your eyes on your fianceé okay?"
"Okay," I smile back at him nervously. "thanks Dad."
"You're welcome Honey."
Then, the music for the bride starts; the piano instrumental gracefully switching from The Summoning to one of my favorites, Alkaline.
"What a unique song." My father comments. "Is this an instrumental from a movie?"
I smile to myself, "No, it's from a band called Sleep Token."
"Sleep token huh? I should give them a listen myself."
"I... think I would skip out on this band Dad. It's not exactly faith friendly."
"What? You think just because I go to church I'm all pure?" He scoffs an eye roll. "Don't tell the Pope, but uh... I still listen to ACDC."
"Wow, what a Baddie!" I laugh. "The controversy!"
"Oh shut it you."
Suddenly, the elegant iron knobs turn begin downwards; allowing the doors to open slowly and reveal the crowd rising from their seats.
Holy shit... I clutch onto my bouquet. They are all so... haunting...
And haunting they were.
"Get ready Rosie," He holds out his forearm for me to take. "We got a long way to go."
"Yeah no kidding..."
