Days have passed and I was now able to be united with my father again.
I couldn't thank Alina enough for nursing him back to health, and while everything remained a casual interaction, her demand for a payment took us both by surprise."Alina, I— A warning would've been nice over the phone." He says defensively. "I suppose I do owe you a favor, but you could've kept my betrothed out of it."
"Oh, but it is your betrothed that I want the favor from." She smiles mischievously, turning to me with her request.
I could feel Arthur's nerves shiver up my spine. What exactly did she want from me?
"Um... if you're expecting me to kill, I'm not going to do it." I said affirmatively. "I'm not a killer."
"And I don't expect you to do such a thing Cher." She says. "It's a simple request really."
"What, you want a batch of cookies?" I joke.
"While that does sound nice, no. It's not what I want."
"What is it then?" Arthur says, swallowing down the annoyance that wanted to seep through his teeth.
"An invitation to the wedding of course."
Oh thank goodness! I hold back a sigh of relief. And here I thought I was about to commit crime.
"Unless... you do not want me there—."
"No no, that's not it!" My hands shook before me. "I just— we weren't sure if you wanted to come. I mean, it's nothing elaborate or anything like that."
"I know, which is why I want to come." She smiles. "You haven't picked out a... what do you call them... ah! An officiator. Is that not true?"
"As if we need to lie to you." Arthur snorts an eyeroll.
"Thought so. And, I did already saw myself at the end of the aisle performing the ceremony.
Wonderful job with the yard by the way."
She glances over at me for a moment, winking before continuing her conversation.
What was that about?"
"Besides, it will be good to see your family again Arthur."
"I'm sure they will be happy to see you too, I know Mother would." He smiles. "Consider yourself invited, and our Officiator."
And I wouldn't have asked for anyone else.

Now as I sat next to the guest bed nearly chewing my nails off, Arthur stood right behind me with his hands on my tense shoulders. It's been hours since Peterson set him down into bed, when is he going to open those tired eyes?
"Everything is going to be okay My Love. If you're worried about the bloodlust triggering, that part of the fledgling in you ended days ago."
Has it? Cause even as he just sits here taking long quiet breaths, I can feel his heart vibrating around me. A sound I never found to be so inciting until now.
"You're sure it won't trigger at all?"
"No, not unless he decides to pierce his own jugular with a remote."
"Arthur..." I groan, trying to rid the image out of my mind. "Not helping..."
"I know, I know." He rubs my shoulders. "I'm sorry, bad joke; but you are going to do just fine. Believe it or not, you have very well self control compared to most fledglings. And on top of all that, you've feed off of me twice today. I should think that your cravings are numbed out for now don't you think?"
