the girl in the crowd who had absolutely no good intentions for me, she watched with me with a taunting look.
it caused no disturbance to my dance audition though. i came here to give myself another shot in pursuing dance and that's exactly what i did. i finished the song with a strong ending pose and received a warm round of applause.
though my friends came to congratulate me and all, i could not help but feel miyeon's malicious presence saunter over to me and call my name.
the audacity she has. she caused my expulsion and seemed to be laughing at me now that i'm starting from scratch again and auditioning for the another dance team.
"hyojin, you did good girlie," she said it in a way that lacked sincerity. she dragged out the word, causing it to sound annoying and honestly like noise pollution.
"why are you here?" ryujin wasted no time in coming to my defense. whatever the long-haired girl with fox-like eyes had to say would most definitely piss her off.
"i'm just here to support my close friend. after all, we joined the previous dance team together," miyeon mocked me with that sarcastic look at she eyed me up and down. she purposely wore my previous school's dance uniform to rub salt in the wound.
i was close with her at one point because we practiced together and made joint decisions as dance team leader and subleader. since we naturally spent a lot of time together, i was able to confide in her about my worries within the dance team and in the end, she grew so power greedy that she forcibly kicked me out of my position. all because she started to slack off so i limited her participation in decision-making as a result.
you can't reach success if you're lazy, and miyeon just wanted to do things her own way that did not benefit the rest of the dance team.
"thank you for showing up. i didn't think you still cared that much about what i'm doing," i shot back with a smile plastered on my face. it was the type of smile where your lips are curled up into a bright smile but your eyes portrayed none of that enthusiasm.
"of course. after all, i feel bad that you got exp-" miyeon was really about to expose it all in front of everyone. while there were saebom dance team members nearby. in front of sooah who didn't know the real reason. in front of jugyeong too.
i can't fathom the amount of stress, anger and humiliation i'd go through if this were to happen again.
ryujin's swift hand reacted much faster than her mouth could. a stinging slap was already delivered to lee miyeon's face, which caught everyone off guard.
even ryujin herself widened her eyes when she realized she was in public and not in the principal's office where she could openly attack the niece of the head principal and get away with it. i still don't understand how ryujin wasn't expelled.
"there... was a mosquito." ryujin muttered, as she retracted her hand. miyeon turned to glare at her as ryujin mouthed something to the angry girl. she decided that this probably wasn't the appropriate time to start another fight, even if it meant bringing me down.
i looked over to sooah and jugyeong's eyes who looked like the size of saucers as they exchanged glances. then their eyes simultaneously inched over to ryujin before looking back to one another with terror.
shin ryujin is not a person that should ever be provoked.
"miyeon buddy, let's have a little talk outside," ryujin gestured her with a finger and then pressed her hand against her fellow dance team member's back and rather aggressively guided her towards the door.
