"How the hell did you have time to get her pregnant? You're constantly running out here with us."
"Well, Jared, when Mom and Dad..."
"Shut up Paul!"
"Hey man, you asked."
"I never should have asked her what was going on."
"The truth was going to come out eventually Sam, at least now you know exactly why she was acting so weird."
"That's a good point Carmen, thanks."
"That's what I'm here for. Hey, isn't Opal supposed to be out here on this run with us or something?"
"She hasn't slept in weeks. She's dead tired and trying to figure out all these visions are just damn near killing her."
"Never mind."
•••••••
The wolves were running patrols through the woods as they knew thankfully, that the Cullens were gone and that they could just keep running. Forever, it would seem like.
Finally, they were a united pack. Embry wasn't with them today, he was back with Opal.
But Sam had brought everybody else out with him today, since Carmen had scented another vampire not too long ago and they were now all spreading out quickly but all of them, they were still all effectively linked together by their minds.
A hive mind, one could call it.
It was getting progressively later and later in the day, as they were separating and the voices in their heads were slowly going away.
Sam loped back towards the house and he caught himself standing up two legs again, as he phased back to stand on two legs instead of four as then, he was now looking around for his clothes.
Sam located them at the front door hanging on the porch as then he was quickly pulling on the jeans and leaving his shoes outside as he walked into the house.
Sam grinned as he snuck up behind Olivia, who unfortunately had a knife in her hands that she had been washing. "Boo." He said and she yelped in fright, quickly spinning around and Sam grunted in pain.
Sam looked down at the kitchen knife that was currently buried in his stomach and at the sight, Olivia clamped her hands over her mouth in horror.
Sam carefully removed the knife and put it into the sink again and she threw her arms around him as she started to cry. "Hey, I'm sorry." He murmured and she was sobbing at the words. "Hey, I'm okay. Liv, it was my own fault. I shouldn't have scared you today, Sparky, and I'm sorry." He said and she was silently hugging him.
Olivia mumbled something quietly now against his chest as Sam raised his eyebrows as he looked down at her. "Hey. What was that?" He asked and she sighed.
"I hate these damn hormones." Olivia said slightly louder and Sam looked like he was struggling not to laugh at the words from her. "You're already healed." She murmured as she pulled back and she gently ran her fingertips over the place that had been, where she had just stabbed him. "I'll never get used to that." She admitted.
"Wolf thing." Sam murmured simply and Olivia nodded at the words and then, there was a howl that went up and Olivia's eyes flashed at the sound.
Right before the phone rang out and Olivia held up a hand to Sam, as she picked up the phone. "This is Olivia." She said into the phone as Sam was waiting to hear what the conversation was about.
Olivia hung up the phone and she turned around to look at Sam, whose eyes widened at the sight. "Quil?" He asked and then at the name of her little brother, she was shaking her head.
"You should call Opal." Olivia admitted as she reached out a hand and she took his in hers. "I know that you have to go... But, I really did wish that you didn't." She said as he looked down at her. Sam leaned down to her level and Olivia looked down.
"Hey Liv, look at me please?" Olivia felt his hand gently cupping her cheek and she was looking up at him. "I'll come back, Livvy, you know that. I always do." Sam reminded her as she nodded a little. "I'll be back as soon as I can be, all right?" He asked and Olivia was nodding again.
"Hey, be careful." Olivia knew how ridiculous it was, but it had become their tradition of sorts and when he heard the emotions in her voice, Sam looked over at her with somethin' that may have been akin to a sort of sympathy in his eyes.
"I'll be back soon." Sam couldn't promise anything, but Olivia knew that he would do his best to keep it as short as he can.
Olivia checked that she had just shut everything off as a moment later, she was walking up the stairs to her and Sam's room and before she got there, she stopped at another room.
Olivia hesitantly pushed open the door and she smiled at the sight of the room and then she saw that Sam had taken it upon himself to do it.
The room was painted pine-green and the ceiling was painted navy blue with stars all over it. There was a mobile of the solar system and Olivia's smile lit up her entire face as she took in the nursery.
Olivia looked over at the crib tucked into the corner and just beside it was the rocking chair and she smiled at the sight.
Olivia sighed as she carefully left the nursery behind and she was walking into her room again. Olivia shut the door as she was exhausted and she carefully pulled off her clothes.
It had been almost three months since Embry had joined the pack and Olivia was starting to show. She often caught herself now looking down at her stomach and she was growing more and more every week.
Olivia sighed as she looked in the closet and she found herself more and more often now, just grabbing for Sam's shirts to wear over her swiftly growing stomach.
Olivia lay down on her side of the bed and she was closing her eyes, swiftly now trying to get to sleep.
Unfortunately for her, she was unable to sleep properly as she kept on just shifting around in the bed.
Olivia knew why it suddenly just felt so much colder than it usually was feeling for her, because Sam wasn't there.
Olivia sighed as now she was trying to drown out the howls as she couldn't help but to be worried about whatever the hell was happening outside with the wolf pack, while she was stuck in here.
