"You know that the Cullens are back in town, right?" Sam asked and Olivia looked over at him with surprise in her eyes, while she shook her head. "I guess Bella went to Italy with the little one to find her mate of a leech, so they all came back." He said as she looked at him.

"Which is why none of you have been able to come and see me. It's been a week, and I just thought that the red-headed bloodsucker was..." Olivia was trembling as she was headed quickly for anxiety and Sam moved forward and he swiftly wrapped his arms around her. Olivia shuddered with a wave of emotions and Sam leaned down to hold her tighter.

Olivia's hands were balled into fists and Sam's eyes were flashing with concern as he looked over at the window, where he could see that Opal, Paul and Leah were locked in a fierce fight.

"Hey, uh, Sparky?" Olivia opened her eyes and she looked up at him, and then she was quickly recognizing the apologetic tone of voice along with the name that only he was allowed to call her, before she was turning to look out the window.

"Go." Olivia murmured quietly and Sam sighed, really not wanting to leave her alone and Olivia was shaking her head. "Stay with Chayton." She said as she stormed down the hallway and she went down the stairs really quickly.

Sam glanced out the window quickly as he was waiting for the real show to begin.

"Hey, you three damn idiotic fucking donkeys!" At the shout, all three of the massive wolves were turning to stare down at Olivia, the only human of the bunch, who was fearlessly storming right up to them. "I have a newborn kid, barely a week old who is trying to sleep upstairs! I haven't slept properly in a week, I'm stiff and sore, and you three are acting like idiotic animals and I'm sick of it! Take it somewhere else, now!"

Leah snarled and charged for her, but then another shape soared over Olivia's head and crashed directly into her.

Leah yelped as she went over and Olivia looked up at Jared, who had phased almost instantly at the sight of Leah running for one of his best friends and Olivia was now grinning at him.

"Hey, thanks Jared." She said as he bowed his head in a swift nod, before he was firmly planting himself in between her and Leah.

Opal and Paul were circling Leah while Jared blocked her path to Olivia. After she was on the porch again, Jared joined the duo in circling Leah with savage snarls and the second-oldest of the wolves was leaping off into the woods at a blazing speed. "You three didn't have to do that." Olivia noted as she was looking at them all.

Jared retrieved his shorts quickly and Opal was ducking behind Paul's wolf form to get her clothes back on, as Paul phased back and he retrieved his shorts.

"Uh, yeah we did. We definitely needed to teach her a lesson and what better way to do it, then to show whose side we're on?" Opal pointed out and then, Olivia was looking at the three of them.

"Good to know what you guys think about her. Now if you haven't eaten it all already, I really, desperately need some food that was not made in a hospital cafeteria." She said as she was getting up and quickly now walking into the kitchen.

"Paul, Embry, Opal." The three looked up quickly as Sam was walking down with the sleepy Chayton in a car seat of sorts, that Sam was easily carrying. "You guys are running halfway to Canada and back, but you three watch the scent line." Sam was warning them and they all nodded, before they were going back outside.

"What's my job?" Jared asked and then as they had heard Olivia mentioning food, the others filed in.

Jacob, Quil, and Carmen, the remaining three wolves other than Sam, were now all standing on either side of Jared, who had effectively taken over.

"Take Jacob and Quil with you, go to the other side and run along the water. Make sure that you patrol the side of the woods that goes nearest to the Cullens, they still have to be able to smell us without looking for the scent. Go now." Sam said and the three guys left the house, leaving only the quiet Carmen.

"What do I do?" Carmen asked in exasperation at being left behind yet again, and away from the running.

"Just go and help Seth with his homework, would you?" Her growl of frustration was a clear thing, but she didn't argue with him as she was taking the keys to Sam's truck, she was driving off at the words.

"You should let Carmen help out with the pack more." Olivia said as she was looking into the fridge. "She is feeling left out, Sam, I can see it." She said and he glanced at her.

"I know, I know, but I can't lose her to this life, Olivia. I just can't." Sam said as she was shaking her head, closing the fridge door as she left the blueberry yogurt on the counter.

"Sam... As much as I understand where you're coming from on this," Olivia was hesitating, choosing her words carefully as she didn't want to upset him and risk him phasing. Especially when Chayton was in the same room. "You have to decide what battles are worth fighting. Carmen is still a member of your pack, but she is also your little sister. Think about how... How Opal and Jacob deal with it." Olivia said and he looked at her.

"Are you worried about this?" Sam asked and Olivia's eyes moved from him to baby Chayton and back, as Sam laughed at the realization, but there was no humor in it. "I mean, you really think that I would hurt my own kid?" He asked.

"I have a right to be concerned about the situation, Sam, especially considering that the rest of the pack is almost always bursting out of their clothes." Olivia said and Sam was staring at her.

"I'm not like the rest of the pack," he spoke with a low tone in his voice that was now as hard as steel and she was staring back at him. The very same fearless and stubborn nature that had helped her only a short while before facing down three phased and pissed off wolves, it came into play yet again and she was facing Sam. "I thought that you knew that. Guess I was wrong." Sam took off running out of the house and Olivia sighed at the words, before she felt liquid pooling in her eyes.

Olivia turned herself around silently and she swiftly leaned forward to rest against the counter, as she was shuddering.

Olivia felt a familiar ripple in the air, the sensation of a wolf phasing back and unlike before, she was fully prepared to ignore it.

Olivia sighed as she turned around, half expecting that it would be Sam. But instead it was Paul and Jared, who were both walking over to her and she walked into their offered hugs and now, she just felt like crying all over again.
