By the time the girls and Ezra get back to their room, Althea was having a hard time understanding everything that had recently gone down. From the hellhounds to her best friend being able to tame them. While she couldn't see them, at least Althea was able to hear the growling. She just didn't know how she would survive fighting against the enemy, even something as powerful as that.
"Abigail, what the hell happened?" Althea asked pacing around the room. "I mean one minute we were taking pictures and having a wonderful time and the next minute we found ourselves in the middle of a canine showdown!"
"Okay first of all, I should use the canine show down often," Abigail responded. "Second of all, I don't know how it's possible, but I was able to communicate with the dogs," she continued. "Things have been happening, Althea, and I don't know how to explain it."
"I think I do," Ezra answered. "What I believe is that your powers might be making an appearance, but here's the problem, we don't know the extent of your powers." Abigail grunted and sat down on her computer chair impatient and wishing that she hadn't said anything. If indeed her powers were showing up, at least she'd find a way to help, she just needed to learn how to use her powers. Despite Abigail not being able to comprehend what happened, Althea started to say something when she looked over and saw the same girl who stood behind Abigail before was right behind her now.
"Abigail?" Althea started, Abigail glanced at her, her brown hair bobbing as she moved. "Who is that girl?"
"What girl?" Abigail asked, jumping from her seat and looking around. The young girl stepped forward and solidified. "What? Who are you?"
"My name is Emily," she said and turned to Abigail. "I'm your guardian angel."
*~*~*
"My what?!" Abigail exclaimed. "Wait! How long have you been here?!"
"I just got here myself." Emily responded. Abigail and Althea glanced at each other and turned their attention back to Emily who was casually smiling, and she acted so calm and chill. Though the look in her eyes showed that she wasn't someone to be messed with. She kept herself tall and steady like a bull ready to attack. The angel was beautiful and to her not exactly what she had in mind. She wasn't sure what she was expecting except for the whole outfit, she'd been wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt and a leather jacket followed by shoes giving her a two-inch height from Abigail. Abigail looked over at Ezra who's scowl deepened. Abigail's stomach dropped as realization dawned on her that Ezra and Emily were related.
"What are you doing here sister?" Ezra asked. "I knew that there was something going on about you, I saw you peeking around the bush."
"Dear brother," Emily said, her arms crossed. "You should know me better than anyone, I mean we were born at different times," she continued. "Plus you looked like you were having a hard time down here and our brothers and father sent me to help you."
"I had it all under control," Ezra responded stubbornly. He glanced at Althea and Abigail before placing his hands on Emily's shoulders. "Excuse us." In a woosh of feathers, the two angels disappeared. Althea and Abigail were now sitting in their room alone and unable to comprehend what happened. Althea sat down on her lofted bed, her covers unmade. Abigail took a few deep breaths before leaning against her own bed.
"Okay, what the hell is happening?" Althea demanded. "It's like we haven't been able to keep up with our enemies. Any ideas?" Abigail hesitated, unsure of how she could explain to her friend that she had been hearing animals talking to her, or at least she thought she'd been hearing the animals talk.
*~*~*
Emily did not enjoy her brother dragging her from the dorm room and out onto the unused soccer field. Here she was trying to help her brother when he was starting to get on her nerves. Not only that, but she also had a hard time explaining to him what happened. She looked at her brother, his navy-blue wings folded down. It still amazed her that Ezra could stay solid and not even have to worry about someone questioning the giant wings. Truth be told, she wished that her wings weren't as big. Ezra paced in front of her, she was sitting on the silver bleachers listening to him ranting. It gave her a massive headache. Emily followed his every move but felt pain in the back of her neck.
"Ezra!" Emily exclaimed. Her voice rising. "Can you quit pacing! You're going to give me a neck cramp!" Ezra rolled his eyes and stopped pacing to face her.
"Why are you here Emily," Ezra repeated. "Why in the world would father send you here, have you been practicing?"
"Dear brother," Emily giggled. "How could you say such a thing? Of course I've been practicing. I've been getting better at using my bow staff. Father told me that he'd been worried about the humans here and would like it if I could join you."
*~*~*
Ezra paused, unsure of how to interact with Emily. If he said the wrong thing then she'd probably pack a punch. However, Ezra also didn't want to hurt his sister considering the fact that she looked up to him.
"So what do you say?" Emily asked. Ezra sighed and shook his head. Not like he had much of a choice.
"Alright, fine, you can come," He responded. "But you must stick close to me, and keep your charge safe, is there something else you need to tell me?"
"There was one other thing, you may have to go to heaven and speak with father," Emily answered. "He is worried about earth and the creatures he's created here, the prince of hell has risen, and if we don't figure out what to do, then everything on this middle earth will be dead by the end of the year." Despite Ezra wanting to stay with Althea, he didn't have much of a choice, if he was summoned to heaven to speak with his father then he needed to get there otherwise things would go downhill and his father would probably be mad at him.
"I'll go, but keep an eye on Althea and Abigail, I've already noticed Abigail's abilities," Ezra said. "I will be back though." With the flutter of his wings, Ezra disappeared leaving Emily on the soccer field.
Great. So he can drag me here to an unused soccer field but he couldn't have taken me back? Emily thought to herself.
She vanished and traveled back to the girl's dorm room.
