We ran as fast as we could back onto deck the ship now badly sinking and it would only be a Mere matter of moments before there would barely be anything left to stand on

“What do we do?”

“... I think we’re gonna have to jump”

“Jump!”

“Its going down, we’re still on it when it goes we’ll get dragged down too. Its sinking already it's not a far drop” he reassured just as we felt the ship creaking and cracking below us it now beginning to badly tip

“Yeah Jump” I nodded knowing we now had little choice, we made it to the edge for a moment both of us too afraid to move, silence rained for a moment hearing only my own breath as I looked down to the dark icey water below before the sound returned, the sound of the ship breaking, of water flooding every inch of the ship, people screaming as the ship moved around them, or those who jumped or even fell, silenced once they hit the water “What if this doesn’t work?”

Fear ran across his face but he held me close “I don’t know. But no matter what … we’ll be together.”

“Together” I nodded giving him a sweet kiss “Take my hand” I offered he happily did and we each climbed over the railing holding on to it and each other as the ship began to rise where one end was sinking so fast and for a split second it occurred to me “This is where you were gonna jump, where we met”

“Yeah, it is.” he nods the fear in his voice “I love you more than anything and no matter what happens I wouldn’t have changed a thing”

“Me either I love you too,”

“You ready?”

“No.”

“Me either, But… it's now or never”

“Sink or swim”

“Sink or swim, On three okay?”

“Okay”

“One..”

“Two..”

I held his arm as tightly as I could taking a breath to hold as we both let go -

I hit the water hard on impact immediately feeling this sharp pain almost enough to make me scream but I held my breath even if it hurt every second I held it, I slowly resurfaced and took a breath the moment my lips reached above the water,

“I got you, I got you” He muttered grabbing my arm as we somehow had gotten separated either on the way down or when we hit the water

“It’s working, Kinda” I said as we swam away from the ship

“It’s still pretty fucking cold though” he complained

“I know, I know but we have to get far enough away or we’ll get dragged down too”

“There! There’s something floating there!” I followed as best I could given the further from the ship we went the less light we had to see, we reached what i think was a large case or perhaps a barrel of something from the kitchens it wasn’t big enough or enough to take our weight but it was big enough we could both grab onto it and hold our arms and heads to keep them above water, out of the cold and to rest briefly

“You were right, this was better then just jumping how we were”

“I told you didn’t I” He chuckled

The first sound was this unholy cracking snapping this loud echoing then came screaming

“It’s coming apart!”
